Hi,

I was wondering if any body could help...... My T350 has developed a missfire. I have replaced the coil pack and also the leads but it has not cured it.
I have since had a closer inspection and had found that removing the plug on No.2 cylinder throttle pot doesn't make any difference to the tickover. All the others do.... I have checked the wiring loom and no sign of corrosion at the connection after the bulk head plug as per a previouse thread on here. Spark plug looks fine just dry compared to the others. As far as I can tell it must be No.2 throttle pot or injector.

Advice would be very greatfully recieved. My first attempt at TVR trouble shooting!

Does anybody know if I can get a trottle pot from a main stream dealer or if it is a TVR specific item.

Many thanks in advance

Al

Try pushing the pins down in the connector loom that connects to the injector. Mine developed a mis fire on the way back from St8six. Jasons boys' came out to fix it and it turned out it was a poor connection on the injector as the pins were not making a good contact in the injector, although they appeared to look fine.

Not sure if I'm reading your thread properly but the S6 only has two throttle pots, one each end of the throttle assembly.

If you mean that one cylinder does not seem to be firing properly then another suggestion is getting your valve clearances checked. One of my exhausts closed up and caused what felt like a dodgy plug or lead.

I *think* if there is an error on one throttle pot the software defaults to using just one reading for both banks, but dont quote me!

May be worth doing a bit mnore troubleshooting or getting down to a specialist.

Have a look at the throttle pot readings, values etc, do they return to 15.2?

Another basic check on the ignition system is to put a tie wrap on each of the exhaust manifolds - should melt on every one, if you have checked leads and coil pack could be plug / fuel related? It has been known for injector wiring to develop a fault...

Could also be throttle bodies out of balance, when was she last serviced?

Correct on this one.

I would reccomend getting yourself a diagnostic lead (about £25 from Clever Trevor), as this allows you to use the TVR diagnostic software (free download) where you can see exactly whats happening with each sensor. It does sound like you're on the right track though.

As it happens, the Tpots are a Ford item, but you're probably easier just going to one of the specalist parts vendors (shop about though!). Remember that there are two different types- the one at the front is grey, and the one at the back is blue.
