2005 T350T Water Temp

My standard 2005 T350T has always had rather high water temp.Generally it never runs below 90 degrees and more commonly is at 91 to 94.If I use the aircon it rapidly climbs to 96.This is on the move in warm but not especially hot conditions.What temps do others get on the move, and how do I go about improving the cooling?Simon.

What temps do your fans start? the normally come in at 92/96 degs. Don't believe all you read on the diplay, hooked up to a computer the ECU temp sensor may read a different number. It is possible the temp display sensor is faulty/inacurate. Cheap to replace, about £15 and it fits to the engine under the airbox.

My Tam runs at 70 when 'hot' on the motor way but in traffic 91-96 degs is normal with the fans coming on and off doing their job.

Your temps sound OK to me (in the UK mine sits about 89/90 - my trip to Le Mans Classic with air con saw it get to 96/97 when cruising). The thing to check is that the fans come on as needed and keep the temp at that point. ie, as previous posting said no one fans comes on at just over 90, then number 2 of few degrees after. The temp should then stabilise. The air con will increase the temp by about 4 degrees (it does on mine) as this also needs to cool the aircon fluid, thus impacting the air temp around the water radiator.

Why should the water temperatur rise when aircon is on?

Check if you have air in the water system. Check your sensor is ok or faulty and replace if necessary.

With the AC on you are increasing the air on temp onto the radiator. The fans will be working harder and the temp will increase slightly due to this.

Pump increases engine speed i assume that's why.

My engine revs rise about 50-100 revs with aircon on, this shall cause several degrees on water temp?

There are too many variables that can effect the water temp.

Ambient air temp?
Humidity?
AC condenser temp? - this will be around 45 degrees with AC on and fully charged!
Engine speed?
Oil temp?
Is it windy? What direction?
Is AC charged correctly?
What coolant?
Coolant level?
Temp sensors.
Fan speeds?
Fan cut in set points.
Radiator clean?

With all this in mind plus numerous other issues if people report + / - 5 degrees on the display I cant see the issue?

Simon, your temps are same as mine. The aircon sucks up lots of heat and it gets transfered in to the water giving that increase.

Temps quoted sound ok to me. Yes the revs drop with A/C on as its more load and it also runs a few degrees higher.So long as its under 100C don't see a problem.
