T350 Front speaker sizes???

Anyone know what size speakers will fit in the lower part of the door cards in my 2004 T350?

Ideally I am looking to mount them in the bit which is the bottomless pocket - anything you put in there anyway disappears forever (or at least until the door card is next off...)

Is there likely to be wiring for the speakers already in the door cards by any chance?

I've tried dry-fitting 6.5cm speakers in place of the bog-standard NXT speakers and whilst they would have fitted with a little modification of the diameter of the hole, they wouldn't have fitted depth-wise without some cutting of the doorcard. I might give it another look once i've finished my subwoofer install!

I'm sure others on here have made some really good doorcard installs and might be able to give some better tips!

Didn't the early cars have higher up pods? I remember seeing one like it on a review on Youtube (IIRC) whereas mine (later) has them down the bottom.

Good point, should've said that the NXT speakers in ours are at the bottom of the door pockets!

It was a cost option on all cars. Mines a 54 plate and has them fitted, not the most pleasing things aesthetically.

True, but the problem with the speakers being at the bottom of the door by your ankles is that you can't hear much, same as the problem of the rear speaker sound waves bouncing off the seat backs and only a little getting through to the front of the cabin where your lug holes are.

Good point, that's why I mounted some tweeters much further up the doors and they make a tremendous difference! I still intend to replace the crappy NXT speakers with some mid-range jobbies to give a bit of oomph up front but I may yet change my mind once the subwoofer is up and running. As I bought a 4 channel amp, I also intend to amp the rear speakers to get some more punch from them too.
