tvr alarm certificate

Afternoon all


Does anybody havce a copy (or can post a link to) of the generic certificate that was issued with the Meta alarm systems confirming Thatcham conformity? PH search is down, and I need to supply a copy to the new insurance bods. I have seen it before but never took a copy as it has not been asked for before.

Except unfortunately you have two big problems. One is that letter needs to have your registration on like the one they sent me.

And secondly, that letter is telling you why TVRs were never thatcham approved.

TVR never had a thatcham approved installer, and are/were never on thatchams list of approved installers, so the alarms on TVR's were never thatcham approved.

It is unlikely your insurer will accept the letter, and even if they do, and your car gets stolen they will suddenly realise what that letter is actually saying.

TVR really left you with no choice but to get the alarm system inspected by someone who is thatcham approved and pay through the nose for a certificate from them.

BTW if you don't believe the above, ring thatcham .

I believe Julian's point was that they may accept it, but if you then suffer a loss due to theft or similar and the insurance company starts to look for a reason not to pay out this issue may crop up. I have never heard of this happening though, plus how often do you hear of a TVR being stolen? I think I've heard of one report on PH several years ago (some kind of petrol station drive off in a Chimaera, can't remember the exact details).

Actually there was a few spats in Essex - i remember reading about it in some previous threads. House robbed keys stolen car gone.

But you're right it is quite uncommon.
