Register SAGARIS in UK

Hello folks,

glad to all join you soon in the sagaris experience!

Would it be possible to keep the car on the Uk plates but having me (or Belgian company) as an owner?

I suppose I need an address in the UK...

Anybody wants to help out?

I saw it reappear on the classifieds after a short holiday and acted promptly!

Sorry to disappoint you but lost track of quite some interesting cars in the past myself...

Mate, your just gonna love it so much! Ive never had a car like it. A true event everytime i drive and ive driven some pretty rare and awsome cars and still i go back to the Sag everytime!!! Still cant beleive ive got one myself! Bloody love it so much...

Well Filip you got a stunner of a car there, guess I´ll just have to wait till another one in that colour surfaces.
If you don´t mind me asking why not just get the car registered in Belgium? I will be putting mine through the German TUV when I eventually get hold of one.

2 reasons:

1) registration in Belgium is relatively expensive

2) Uk plates look much cooler on a SAG!

PS: not planning to part with any TVR anytime soon

talk to the guys at TVR MADS they specialize in getting TVRs exported and registered abroad. They quoted me around 1500 euros for registration over here and getting the headlights and foglights changed.

You might want to check the one Racing Green are offering in Grigio Titanio.

Should be the same colour although in the pictures looks darker by a shade or two...


BTW: tax on my chimaera was about 5000euro's (yes five thousand!)on first registration + 2000 euro's annual fee, after first year it's "only" the annual fee of 2000euro's

So first year sets you back about 7000euro's not including insurance nor service costs...

Belgium simply isn't the ideal country if you're a petrolhead!

Filip - I don't know how wise this post and the more blatent one in the general section is. You're using a very open public forum to ask somebody here to commit fraud, so that you can avoid paying taxes in your own country.

You have to have a UK address that is "yours" you will also need 2 insurances or just UK and get a green card for belgium. Do not use just belgium insurance as this can cause problems and you could get the car confiscated. The car will probably only be allowed 1 year in Belgium before having to come back to the UK for a period of time, then it will be allowed back in. Keep ferry receipts!!!

I do something similiar with my TAM but fortunately I do have both Norwegian and UK addresses. I have been stopped by the police in Norway and they said I had to get the car out of Norway that day but fortunately I had done my homework and they had to back down in the end.

You can't register the car in someone elses name and say you are borrowing the car unless the registered ownwer is actually in the car or it is a hire car with appropriate paperwork (which can be done if you know the right people )

Hello James, see your point, though can't see what's wrong if I would pay rent to the owner for an address and register car in that place.

I come over to the UK regularly so having an address here could be convenient aswell.

When buying a car in Germany you can get "transit-plates".

These are valid up to a period of about 3 months IIRC.

Does this or anything similar exist in UK aswell?

Would allow me to just drive the car home and import and register in here...

My transit plates were supplied by the dealer I bought a car from, they were supplied with the car but can't be much to do yourself. My transit plates were for 1 week but I'm sure you can get them for longer. I would speak to a dealer about this as they will have the best knowledge.

Filip I just talked to someone in the know here in Germany about doing the same thing to save some money but as soon as the phrases "highly illegal" , "big fine" and "car confiscated" came into the conversation I thought better of it. Maybe you should just bite the bullet and get it officially registered. I know it's a lot of cash but it's cheaper than the other options if you get caught.

It is possible if you have a UK address, insurance can be obtained from Stewart Collins. I have seen several TVR's (including a Sagaris) owned by locals in Belgium on UK plates however they do seem to get them registered locally after some time.
