Tamora buying advice...

Back in 2003 I drove a Tamora and a Noble M12 back to back and bought the Noble. As a result I've never scratched the TVR itch and I reckon now's the time!

For whatever reason it's always been the Tamora that I liked.

So, my question is this - Do i go for one of the late model year cars that are around and north of 20k, or do I buy something a bit older and keep aome cash in reserve to cover 'TVR ownership costs'?

Haven't managed to come to a conclusion myself so I thought I'd ask!

Quite a bit covered on this over the last few weeks Paul, which probably accounts for the silence. Try the search engine and it should bring up lots of info.

There will always be niggles to sort out so probably best to have some spare money put aside.

There is a general opinion that post 2003 S6 engines were better built having the known issues sorted and therefore the later the better. If you do go for an earlier model, it would be
wise to opt for one with a rebuild.

Check for work that has been carried
out recently. Clutches last circa 20k
and are about 1k to replace. Once
you find one, speak to the garage
that has carried out the servicing to
get an idea on condition. They should
know the car.

Servicing is vital at 6k and 12k
(major) intervals and is not cheap.
Then again, you should be used to
that with a Noble (which I also love).

There have been various threads on
Tams recently so worth checking
back. Also worthwhile checking out
the threads on the separate Speed 6
engine section so you are aware of
the known problems.

Thanks for the info, I suppose I kind of knew that the answer was to spend more, isn't it always!

I went for a known low mileage 1 owner '05 car and have been completely happy thus far (6 months).

You won't regret it, they are fantatsic cars...can't wait for a nice little trip to Brum tomorrow in mine (200 mile round trip)

I've just bought an earlier 2002 model, having discounted a couple of later 2004 ones purely based upon condition, history and mileage. Only time will tell if I have made the right decision but cant wait to pick it up.

One thing is for sure, Tamora's are selling pretty well. I have been watching the classifieds for a couple of months and there have been 25 for sale. There are currently only really 6 now left for sale in the classifieds excluding the Cat D.

They do seem to be massive bargains compared to T350's and the price difference when new. Not complaining though

I did wonder why that one was still for sale as it looked rather good. I knew the Tony Gilbert one had sold so really only 6 currently left on sale then. The chameleon green 04 plate seems a good car.

The is also a blue 03 plate still for sale on the tvrcc site which I almost went to look at last week, but as soon as I saw mine I had made my mind up.

SSCC do seem to be very slow at updating their website, I phoned in June to enquire about the black one they had for sale to be told it had been sold. Looking on here later revealed the lucky guy bought it back in February!!!
