Wiring against oil\water pipe

Just making an observation whilst the bonnet was open on the Tam. Around the front of the block, leading around to the passenger side, there is an oil\water pipe. Not sure which but it gets hot. Cable tied to it, is some wiring loom, this leads off to two junction boxes. As it leads off we have smaller exposed wires within the loom, which are also at this point resting on the hot piping. Is this really the best place they could have secured electrical cables ? From what I could see there is a route using the chassis. Anyone suggest a good tape to use on my exposed wires, just to stop them from melting at any point.
