New owner and a battery life question..
Discussion
Hi folks.. Just swapped my V8S for a Tamora and this is I think about to be the first of many questions.. Forgive me if its in an FAQ somewhere - not had time to check..
Basic question is how long can I expect the battery to last between runs? (I spend lots of time elsewhere so I'm not able to use the car) and whats probably better for a PM - how do I get into the car/any way to jump it if the battery dies on me completely while I'm away? Bob The Planner told me what to look for on a Tuscan, but I've no idea if the Tamora is the same or not.. I know the old S secret, so I'm hoping that something similar will work..

I get about 2wks betwwen runs without the C-Tek to keep things topped up. Jump via the anderson connector if fitted (look behind PS front wheel area. If not get one fitted. The answer to your last question is yes. Basic question is how long can I expect the battery to last between runs? Timely question as I've spent a bit of time buried in the wheel arch of my Tamora this weekend, I'd left mine for 2 weeks and not put it on the charger the upshot being it was utterly flat and not enough charge for my accumate to pick it up.
Decided to bite the bullet and get it out for a look, which is easier said than done. It fits in a very tight cubby hole behind the wheel with cables and a lip getting in the way of you getting it out and around the disc/caliper. Felt quite pleased when it did come out and even better once I'd pushed my hernia back in.
Took it down my local battery place and they hooked it up to their meter, utterly dead, not a single bit of charge left. So new battery and the expected comments about TVRs being unreliable - it's a battery for christs sake! My battery was a TVR original on an 05 plate, so not too old. Bloke at the shop made a big thing about there being a little light on the top of the battery that shows if it's still holding charge, so you can check it a glance - would need a bloody big light and a siren if I was to check it "at a glance" once fitted.
Getting the battery in was also a challenge, good job I'd gaffer taped up the hernia, but whilst it's a snug fit it isn't a secure fit. The clamp only clamps if your battery has a lip and the new one doesn't, so I shimmed up with cannibalised MTB tyre and also chocked at the front with some wood - also replaced the foam on the side of the battery between the positive terminal and heat shield.
Whilst I was in there I checked out the chassis and Anderson connector, both looked good largely down to the copious amounts of waxoyl previous owners had painted on. Still, battery drain time, access and clamping all better on my old Cobra kit than the Tamora - doubt it would pass the SVA test.
Needless to say it went straight on the charger once job done....

Hi Simon , If your still local to me we could meet up , i think its the first Sywell Sunday meet next week . I have had my tam since April 09 and i got locked out fairly early on in my ownership , i always tended to leave the boot up in the S i did not spot the light in the boot under the golf clubs Basic question is how long can I expect the battery to last between runs? There are solutions you just need to know them .Alpinestars said:
How long it lasts depends on the condition of the battery. I changed mine on both a Tuscan on now on my Sag. Big difference. I can now leave it weeks without starting it and I would say unless the battery is fairly new, I would always change it for a new one.
I second that. I dont leave my Sag on a trickle (no access to a plug socket), but no issues when left for up to 3 weeks. Gassing Station | Tamora, T350 & Sagaris | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
