Tamora differences

Apart from the front and rear lights, what are the differences between the early and later Tamora's?

From what I understand, the painting of this and other bits like the rear splitter, under the spoiler and the lower bonnet slats was an 'option' not sure if it was a cost option or not. Mine are painted and this was on the build sheet but no price against it.

centre console, yes. mine does not have the two little screws/bolts holding it to the tunnel.

If i remember rightly the rear lights were moved down slightly..dont hold me to this but im sure they did.

Was there not a change to the power steering as well? IIRC the early cars were driven off a shaft from the engine that could break if over used when cold leading to pulling the engine apart to repair, later cars had electric PAS.

Mine is a late 2002 car and it has the electric PS pump. IIRC it was the Tuscan that changed to the electric PS pump not the Tamora

Some of the newer 'face-lifted' ones (towards the end) also have different seats. They started fitting the seats from the Tuscan, rather than the custom ones made for the Tamora. These sit higher off the floor and in my case meant that when sitting normally my eyeline was straight at the top of the windscreen surround. I would either have to drive with the seat squab out all the time or adopt the 'leant forward peering over the steering wheel' style of driving. I was rather happy to have an early one.

Early Tamoras had the bonnet vents and rear diffuser painted black - not sure if painting the body colour was an option at that time. My Tamora - early 2003 - had the vents and diffuser the body colour as standard.

The lights were the other obvious difference (as has already been described).

Rear diffusor in body colour was a 100 GBP option.
No fog lights for facelift models, the lower and then bigger lights were additional high beams.
A/C was never a standard equipment, always an option.
18inch Spiders were always an option, 16 inch came standard.
No difference at the rear.
Possibly multiple minor changes no one ever knows.

As stated already, the position of the rear lights was changed slightly. Not that you'd really notice unless you had classic/new side by side.

Hi all, I had one of the first few Tamora’s off the production line and as I was "Friendly" with the factory I had a few of the upgraded fitted.

All the early cars came out with the black painted body parts, Peter Wheeler would not let them be colour coded. After about 6 months he gave into customer demand and most people had the colour coded.

My car was the first car to have the option of 18" wheels because I kicked up a fuss about how bad the 16's looked. I guess only about 10 cars went out with 16" wheels with no option of 18's

The metal surround to the hand break and the fitting of the tunnel trim was an upgrade as was a change the glove box lid.

Front speaker were also added as an option later in life as were RR upgrades.

I think there were also a few tweaks to the rubber seals on the roof but I might be wrong on that one.

Obviously the lights were the biggest single upgrade.
