Coughing Speed Six ...

... OK, so this is TVR law. I've just moved to Switzerland and the Tamora has come with me and has been doing a sterling job as my everyday commuting car, great for the morning cruise down the autoroute - and it's quite a celebrity car here, the Swiss love it.

However, just a couple of days after I got here, the engine started, for want of a better word, "coughing". I thought it might be a British aversion to dodgy European 95-E10 fuel so have been using BP 98 fuel. But idle remains terribly rough; and the engine splutters and pops and sounds almost as if it's backfiring sometimes when I accelerate at lowish engine speeds. I sometimes get an EFI Fault flash up, but not always. It was serviced just before I came out here a month ago - I'd had the EFI Fault flash up before then, the garage checked everything out and could find nothing wrong. Now it's way way worse. Do you think that this might just be an EFI fault - or a symptom of more serious Speed Six issues? Whatever it is, it's coming back to the UK in a couple of weeks for some TLC.

Sorry to hear that. As it was doing it before slightly, did the garage thoroughly check the ecu logs for faults, readings of the adaptives etc?

This often suggests the area to check out, rather than long-winded tests to eliminate lots of components.

Yep, despite the warnings I'd had previously, apparently nothing showed up on the ECU.

Might be a throttle out of synch. Do you have the chance to check they all get the same amount of air?

Nope - how would I do that, presumably a garage would need to check whether inlet valves etc are functioning properly?
