So I had the day off and had allocated myself some garden tasks to do as it was such a nice day
by 2pm I had had my fill and putting tools away in the barn i was unable to resist the temptation of a quick spin before the wife got home with the kids...
so i pulled the cover off, flung open the doors. started up - no problem..;) and reversed out..
a faint burning smell and the car just cut out.
holy scensoredt

car re-started no problem. I then realised the problem..

..........In my haste I had the accumate still attached to the anderson connector as I reversed out.....

pretty slick eh?

no harm done apart from a bit of scorching and melting of the croc clips but what a plum!

Have done the same in my Tuscan, snapped the cables clean off the Accumeate side of the Anderson connector in my hurry to go out for a drive, no harm done though just soldered them back on.

My old Corrado from a few years back used to have an annoying rattle from the Cat.

In an attempt to locate the fault, I rammed a wire wool pad up between the cat and heat shield to see if I could stop it rattling.

It did the job.

2 months or so down the line I noticed a burning smell when the engine was hot and after days of searching the penny dropped...the Brillo Pad.

It gets worse.

To be sure, I decided to replicate the problem by heating up a Brillo pad using a pair of pliers on the gas hob in the kitchen.

With the pad (almost) glowing I sniffed it to compare the smell - and I burned the end of my nose.

yikes

And yes it did smell the same...

I thought the snow earlier this year shouldn't stop me fitting an oil cooler to my track car, with drill in hand leaning onto a curved metal bar with the front bumper removed I proceeded to slip, smack my nose on the bar (and cut half my nostril off) and drill straight through my jeans.

I still have the scar on my nose smile I'll never forget my wife calling NHS direct and saying to the woman 'no he hasn't been hit by a car, he hit the car with his face'

Done the accumate thing...so your not alone.

I also cleaned the main headlight reflector lenses on my cerby, only to find the cleaner contained some kind of chemical that stripped off the chrome...DOH!

Let me take daftness to a whole new level, cleaning the chain on the motorbike I used to pop up on a paddock stand and drop into first so the rear wheel is just ticking round, whilst spraying on the chain oil I used to hold a rag behind the chain so as not to cover the tyre...
Then one day I caught the rage in the chain and it pulled my fingers in too, yikes

Cue blood everwhere and the tip of my finger missing!!!

Took 4 months to heal and was extremely painful, needless to say I don't go near moving parts anymore...

So you see I must win some kind of numpty prize?!?!
