Going out in the cold

As this is the first winter I've had the Tam, what are the considerations for starting/driving the car in this cold weather?
I was thinking of going for a short run this weekend (being careful in the conditions etc) , but obviously the car and oil temp is very cold (just checked at 5 degrees) and will take longer to get to temperature. Should I be concerned about having some kind of heater in the garage, let the car idle a few mins once started, or just drive off as usual and keep revs as low as poss until warmed up?

don't use mine for the daily commute....but
sparked mine up yesterday morning. air temp was -4C and the oil temp read -1C
started no bother, but sounded like the engine was full of treacle
reversed out and let it sit for a few mins. was up to 10C in no time and sounded normal

never got much above 60C but I wasn't trying to set any speed records

Well I put the keys in and straight away I'm warned wit the usual TVR beeeeeeeepppppppppppp that outside temp is -1.

Get a oil temp warning -1, turn that off then get oil temp warning 100degrees????
This carries on for a few mins until oil temp hits 1degree.
I took it easy until 70 though and then she ran fine. Below 10deg she is not impressed!!!

I couldn't have considered a Tam or any such car without a garage...we bought a house in Feb and that was the only thing I cared about!

Think you'll find, when it stays on for more than a moment, that it's '100psi' pressure - quite a common glitch with sensor when cold, mine's doing it at the moment, but not really a problem. Sun and blue sky so took the t350 out for a non-spirited drive. Been sat in the garage for a few weeks, ignition on showed 203degrees then -100 then -1, frost warning, another warning, thank you tvr for all the useful info!
Oil temp was -1, took 20 mins to get it to 30d, then 30mins to 60d then back in the garage.
The black stuff was slippery in what seemed 'dry' conditions. So take it easy folks.

Went out today for the last time for a couple of months. Bit tight on money after numerous problems with my so called cheap runabout Seat Leon. (Broke down 3 times in 1500 miles) so declared the Tamora SORN for the time being, need to get a battery conditoner and anderson connector. Car started instantly with no trouble Oil temp reading -2 left on tick over until 20 degrees. Then took it out never got above 65 degrees. Hopefully re tax it in Feb/March latest. It handled the 2 inches of snow on the roads on my housing estate fine today!
I took the sagaris out almost every day last time it was snowing. No probs with control etc etc, my main worry was the salt. I used to rake it to the car wash to have the underside rinsed quite regularly. It did take absolutely ages to get up to temp, and if you took it out on the motorway the temp would just plummet to about 40.
My local ICE/alarm guy was telling me about an 'intellistart' system so you could remotely start the car from inside, whilst it was still alarmed and locked 5 mins or so before you leave the house. Was tempted, but I think it was quite pricey, and I thought it would be a bugger if it didn't work properly.

For the sake of £40 I think everyone should have one of these, mine is tucked up and the pad comes on in the middle of the night just to keep things nice and toastie.
I'm moving in tbe new year and my first requirement is exactly that!
