Charging my Tamora battery

Not driven the Tamora for 2 weeks as I have SORN'd it for December and January. Now I haven't got a battery conditioner just yet and as I haven't been out for couple of weeks wondered if starting it up and leaving it to warm up and maybe take it round the block. Will leaving it on tick over for a good while charge the battery? Just don't want to let it go flat. Also when I get an optimate I want to plug it into the anderson connector underneath the passenger foot well as the cigarette socket is missing on my car. Where can I get one of these to fit the Optimate charger?

The general consensus from what I have read is that leaving it to idle for longer periods isn't advisable as it put extra load on the engine, and it's best to just drive off and keeps the revs as low as possible until it warms up.

My Tam seems to lose charge quite quickly, even though it had a new battery last year. It was flat after 4 days at the classic car show, and again last week after not leaving the battery conditioner connected for over a week or two. If your's still starts after two weeks you're doing well

Not sure where best to get a charger for the anderson connector, as I use a CTEK into the cigar lighter but I'm sure someone should be along soon to advise.

Hi mark hope things are well with your Tamora! yeh it starts still after leaving it for up to 3 weeks as it had a new battery whilst be prepared by Tony Gilbert. thanks for your input

Do not leave it just to tick over as it is not good for the engine & the battery will not charge.I have used an Accumate via the Anderson connector to keep the battery on my Tuscan charged for long periods with no problems

You will take more out of the battery starting it than you will put back in by letting it tick over + the extra wear on the engine is not worth it IMO. I would not charge via the anderson connector not because its not suitable but if you drive off and forget its plugged in it could do some real damage to the car if you get a short circuit.

I use a CTek charger. It came with a spare conector cable so I removed the lugs (designed for the battery terminals I guess) and hard wired it into the back of cig lighter loom. This way I have to remove the charger before I drive off and it works just as well.

The Anderson connectors are about £12 off flee bay. You want a 175A version (Durite 0-431-75)
