Overheating...now waiting for RAC.

I'm now sat at the A24 Esso garage just south of Dorking on my way home from Sunday service. Some of you may have seen my big entrance this morning with plumes of steam and a big puddle of water.
I've had to give up trying to limp it home. Just can't keep up enough speed to keep it cool. So I now have a 2 hour wait for the RAC...and no doubt plenty of jokes when they do arrive.
Problem
-Fans don't appear to be cutting in
-Warning 16 Water Sensor popped up on the dash earlier (only appeared once, hasn't come up again since I cleared it)
Once I get home, where should I start. Fuse, Relay, Sensor??? Don't want to be paying someone for what is probably a quick fix.
Any ideas?

As far as I can see it is just coming from the header cap. The pull of water was from a lot of water been blown out of the cap. It doesn't appear to be leaking from anywhere else. If I could bridge the fans I could get it home. Wouldn't be a problem if there weren't so many people out xmas shopping. A clear run and I could keep temps down, but with all the traffic I have no chance.
RAC are taking the piss. Was told a 2 hour wait, that was 3 hours ago. Just rang them to find out how much longer, and they are saying another hour!WTF. Its freezing waiting for them.

The car should have cooled by now. Top it up and move on. When the van calls and asks where you are say you're either at home or 5 miles up the road.RAC are taking the piss. Didn't really want to keep trying my luck. Everytime it overheats I risk popping the rad or worse a headgasket. Its peaked at 120 degrees twice already today.
RAC finally arrived after 4 hours, took one look at the what car it was and called a tow truck. Why make me wait 4 hours if they aren't going to touch it?Could of sent a tow truck 4 hours ago. Will I be renewing with RAC...not a chance.

Just thinking, check your expansion tank cap. It might be a simple/cheap repair! If it is cracked or not holding pressure for another reason the water will boil as it is not under pressure, I don't think the fans can help. Happened to me after a service, the mechanic at a TVR dealer overtighened the cap and cracked it (this was not Str8Six btw). Will check the cap. When I ran it up yesterday it was leaking a little, and I have been suffering from a squeelling belt, probably down to getting wet.
So fans and cap to sort.
Just like to add that it only hit 120 once switched off. I turned it off once it got to 105 and showed no sign of fans kicking in. Rad seems ok, no water in oil, and no oil in water...so head should be fine. Will probably leave it and fix it over xmas. Got no need to drive it now until the new year.

Franky - Just looked at your profile. That is a lovely colour you have. Noticed you bought her for a very good price £16k!
I have never seen a T350 that cheap before. Was there a reason behind this, maybe cat D or on the same engine from new?

Yes £16000 is cheap, but I thought I would take a risk. The reason for the price
-Was due a major service
-Needed an engine mount
-Needed an exhaust mount
-Needed 2 rear tyres
-Needed the brakes skimming
-and the big one, it had 41000miles on it with no rebuild
Since I've had it I've probably spent around £2000 on it, so cost me £18000 which is still reasonably cheap.
I took it to Vmax last month and clocked 166mph, which as far as I'm aware is the quickest standard 3.6 T350 they have had at their events. So it still goes well. Now needs another engine mount, but that's not bad after the abuse I gave it that day. Most of the issues I have had have been silly electrical problems, which you would get with most TVRs. This current problem will probably only be a sensor or relay so shouldn't cost me much.
As it stands it is costing me an average of £1 in repairs/upgrades per mile driven, which is a figure I can live with.
