Engine coolant top up question

Just checked the coolant level in the expansion tank, and found the tank empty!

So I was reading through Graham's manual and he advises to use a pump to service the system. As it should already be primed etc, can I just add some fluid and if so, do I just pour some in the expansion tank??

Looks like a basic bleed is what I'm after...

You don't need to bleed the system unless there's air in there?

Just fill up the expansion tank to just below the black hose that feeds from it. I use a wooden spoon with a black line drawn on it to measure the level.

Not even if the expansion tank is empty and the swirl-pot's level is below the top feed to the engine?
