Currently have a JP exhaust on my 4.3 T350. Problem is as much as I (and everyone in the county) love the fireworks display the moment I lift off the throttle, it's too noisy, especially accelerating through the 2-2.5k rev range. What are my options? I'd like to keep all the popping and banging, but just mute the overall background noise a bit to make it more comfortable on the motorway etc....

And on that note, what's a second hand JP exhaust go for?

Maybe a Blueflame is your answer. I get pops and bangs but doesn't trouble me on long journeys. Went for these pipes for that very reason. That said, the pops and bangs will be much quieter than the JPs no doubt.

thumbup Blueflame, this is probably your only option. they come with removable baffles too so you can put them in if you go on a track day that has strict noise restrictions. search youtube "blueflame tamora" for an idea of the sound.

It only pops and bangs when warmed up.

The new JP system sounds like what you're after. I believe its from the ctas back and is quiet enough to get on most tracks whilst maintaining the pops and bangs over standard. Give ACT a shout.

Ear muffs! TVR's make a noise & pop and bang thats the wat they are ment to be! I found that to mute the noise killed the pops & bangs so I likewith it. Most of my driving is motorway and I don't find it a problem.

I'm collecting my Tamora in about a fortnight which has ACT decats and a JP exhaust, sounded great on the test drive, but it was a very cold day, so i'm not sure i experienced the entire firework display. I felt it was the only combination to rival the AJP, question is am i right?
Sorry for the thread hijack

Racing Green or TVR Power 'Super sport' cans with de-cats if you want to go deaf and scare people. Thats what I have on my Tamora. ACT/JP combo is still a good combo.

Shep, i'll stick with the existing set up until Chatsworth, then i'll have a listen to what's there, i'm sure i heard Madbadgers car there last year and was well impressed.

Yes I will be there too. To be honest I would stick with what you have, a new set of cans is £450+ and it won't be that different, better spent on other bits or a service

How do you guys manage at MOT time with sports exhausts and decats? Do you put the cats back in, get someone to do it for you, or know a 'friendly' MOT centre? How easy are they to fit/remove? PM me if you don't want to discuss on here?

You can put the cats back in but in the long term you are better off finding a sympathetic MOT garage as there are ways around it;)

Bit off topic but what is the remapp like on the Beemer?

yes that's what i've been told too. I'm dropping my car off at str8six tomorrow to get the system fitted woohoo

It also unleashes a few more torques too.

What are you doing with your de-cats then? Or are you keeping them in conjunction with the new pipes/box?

I'm keeping the de-cats in as well. They need to be modified slightly due to the bigger bore exhaust going in.

The cat's don't benefit the car what-so-ever apart from emmissions... pfft so not point putting them back in.

They also contribute to the cabin being so bloody hot in the summer.

That's interesting. So by that do you mean just the backbox? If I can get the noise down to track levels i.e. assume you must be talking about 105 rather than 98db - either would be spot on. It's too loud for me even with the earplugs in at the mo!

To answer to OT question, the remap is great it has around 240bhp and 500Nm of torques making it a great everyday car and still achieves over 40mpg.

Back on topic, is the T350 back box the same as the Tamora? I'm thinking about going for a sports exhaust and would consider a second hand one if it became available at the right price?
