Slightly bent spider wheel - repairable?

Symptom started as a slow puncture, only maybe 1 or 2 PSI a day when sitting in the garage. Just returned from the tyre fitter, who couldn't find any air loss whatsoever. But did spot the potential problem..

On the inside of the rim, there is a very slight bend, probably caused by a pot hole (there are enough around!). By slight, I mean really slight. You have to look at it closely to see it. There is what looks like some black rubber marks on the lip of the rim, which I think confirms a pot hole as the cause. The fitter suspects that when on the car, the weight load may be allowing the slight air leak.

The fitter tells me that they can attempt a repair by heating the rim and bending it back into shape, which will hopefully cure the problem. Is this something that anyone else has had done? Any pitfalls of at least letting them try a repair? Rather not buy a new wheel if I can help it.

Rather than introduce any heat I'd just get an appropriately shaped piece of wood and hit it with a BIG hammer.

Really? Surely not. I suppose giving it a try is an option.

Just get a new one - spiders are not great wheels, i like the look of them so have kept mine but lots of TVR owners have needed new ones. You will need to find a replacement I would not want to be in my car with a repaired wheel.

I chose not to have mine repaired after I hit a pot hole. It was not too (3-4mm ish) bad so I keep it as a spare with the tyre on for if I get a puncture
