Now sitting waiting for the AA, lots of steam and a high temp, i hope i stopped the engine quick enough. I can't see any obvious leaks and the water was coming out of the expansion bottle but that combined with the hugh temp warnung got me worried.

Hopefully all will turn out well.

Fans aren't kicking in, fuses are ok, any suggestions?

there is also a connector plug near the fans, try unconnecting, clean up, reconnect...?

not 100% sure really? confused

As above.Disconnect and clean the fan connecting switch terminals.
Hopefully not too serious.
Good luck.

Did you hear the fan relay click in? Try swapping them over to see if the first one is defective.

To check your fans at a lower temp, If you have AC switch it on as this will pulse the first fan when required.

Cheers. Lee.

Try unplugging the the water sensor that will cause the fans to run with the ignition on, therefore testing the wiring and connections.

Turn the heating and fans up to max with the windows down (always worked for me in my first car...)

Hi guys thanks for the tips, i tried a few of the things above but not all as my phone battery died and i couldn't check to see if there was anything else to try. Tried the connections and fuses etc, didn't try disconnecting the water temp sensor though.

It's now on a low loader to my local Indy anyway, needs a few other things doing so i may aswell save on petrol money hehe.

Thanks for your help, i don't think it's anything too serious and after the engine cooled down and stopped spitting water out of the expansion bottle it didn't take a lot to fill it up so at least i didn't boil it dry. And the AA guy got a good pressure test on the system with no leaks.

Disconnect temp sensor under airbox, fans should run as this is the deault state when a sensor fault happens. Have you checked the relays? maybe its just the PRV in the expansion bottle lid thats had it or the seal to the neck?

Quick update, it was the connections on the fans, both had loose wiring but all good now.

Thanks again for your help guys.
