Hi guys!
Removed my airbox for the first time, to check the cables between the alternator and the starter to avoid the known fire problem with unisolated cables.
Cables are all ok (I guess), but I noticed a gap bewteen the upper and lower shell of airbox when removing and refitting! The problem is, that this gap is on the upper side of the airfilter, which means, that the engine can suck dirt!

An other question is, should the rubber pipe from the underfloor fit exactly to the lower shell of the box? I have a gap between!

Last question, I will fit a DETA Orbital 900 battery, which has different mounting points than normal batteries. So I have to drill 2 holes in the sheetmetal of the batteryholder, who knows the material of that? Is it aluminium or steel?

pics to follow, the image loader did not work...

regards Josef

Most TVR airboxes are poor fitting, and many have the rear air port broken. I replaced mine with a ATC Carbon one. Its also adviseable to change the pop rivets to locking nuts and bolts, to avoid the end of a broken pop rivet getting in the engine.

Hi!
I couldn't find cracks in the shells - and yes, I want the carbon version too, but no money for that at the moment...

I will add cable ties to the pop riverts to secure them.

Just make sure the rivets will stay where you want them to be. You don´t want a rivet fragment wandering round your engine´s combustion chamber...
