Went out today to see about rasing the ride height slightly.
I discovered that the shocks have been fitted in an inverted position which made getting at the adjusting collars a bit of a bugger.
Are the Nitrons normally fitted up this way on the Tamora?

not sure why nitrons would be different from anything else so i would say this is very strange. but as usual i may be wrong.

This isn't uncommon and shouldn't be an issue other than adjusting the settings as you pointed out.

That's the best way to have them makes adjusting the damping possible. If the other way round you would have to remove the wheel to adjust.

Ah fair enough cheers.

Don't suppose you know why Nitrons do not have a locking collar on the spring plate?

Nitrons that I last fitted had a locking collar. Seems strange that there isnt one. also seems a bit strange that they are fitted upside down. As for adjustment, surely once its corner weighted the only things you need to adjust are the rebound damping for different conditions. So I would be happier with them as they should be. If in doubt speak to Nitron.

Whether they work like this or not, I'd be wondering why they are installed upside down? What didn't fit to cause the garage to do this? and why?

Thanks for all the replies chaps, I will be giving Nitron a ring tomorrow to check with them. I cannot actually get to the adjuster with the wheel on and it is almost impossible to turn the spring platofrm in its current position so I am tempted to refit them the correct way up.

Don't worry about this, gas shocks can be fitted in any orientation without affecting there performance. This way is actually beneficial as it reduces your unsprung weight which is probably why it has been done plus making them easier to adjust.

He just said it make them harder to adjust!

That is adjusting the ride height though which should be a 1 time job. It makes it much easier to adjust the rebound.

It's technically better for them to be fitted inverted and it isn't a problem as it reduces unsprung weight and makes them easier to adjust.

I've had em like that for years on the rear of my Griff 500.

How come this is the first time i hear this option?!
I better turn mine over before the bodydrop.

It's been on here a few times. Reduction in unsprung weight vs lifespan. When Jules was posting he said that he fitted them both ways depending on the requirements of the driver. I wouldn't have thought that there was any benefit in drag racing.

Nitron website states that this unit is designed to be fitted upside down to reduce unsprung weight if that helps.
