Set off today following the usual temperature/revs advice - 20 minutes later got to the M1, oil temperature was a nice 65, accelerated hard onto the motorway only to find that within a couple of miles it was down to 58/59 and remained around this figure for the next 25 miles (temperature actually varied between 55 and 61). I understand that cold air passing through the engine bay equals cooler running temperatures, but should the engine not have got to 60+ and remained there?
