Nothing like a bit of carbon bling Shep. Looks good. Nicer than the one I removed from my engine yesterday - which is slightly the worse for wear at the w\s wiper end. frown

Yes I was inspecting the old box that came off the car and its shocking, there are gaps all round it. Too early to tell if there is any power gain with the new one (I got the trumpets too) but it sounds even more rorty than before.

£875+ VAT for the box inc the trumpets. Fitting is a little tiresome as they don't come pre-marked for the bracket positions. If you are handy with the tools then you could do it yourself but if you make a msitake yikes best placed in the safe hands of the experts.

K&N breather coming....

Indeed. IIRC there are only 4 chameleon blue Tamoras we know where 2 are, Racing green just sold one but I don't know who to and I think the fourth one was also in the herts/beds area too.

Essentially the hose off the top of the oil tank is connected to an oil breather filter and the old connection is plugged off. NightSpirit had some pics of his but I can't find them. Don't fully understand why its not good but I guess you won't be feeding oil vapour into the engine if you route it externally but it has the potential to smell more?

Very nice Shep I also have the ACT carbon airbox on my Tuscan S, one thing I would advise is to change the pop rivits holding the catches on. I drilled them out and replaced them with M3 stainless cap screws with nylock nuts.

Are you guys saying that after spending a grand on the carbon airbox that you have to drill holes in it for the clips and brackets? S'cuse me if I say f-that for a game of soldiers!

That means theres 2 we don't know about because the Racing Green one was sold to me!

I thought there were only 3 in which case its you, me and the one also in Herts/Beds.

I guess somebody somewhere has had an S6 engine that has ingested part of a pop rivett from the top section of airbox and its kippered the engine. It would be nice to see the carbon box with nuts/bolts rather than pop rivetts for the purchase price but I guess if they are secure there should be no problem.

It was a Graham Varley recommendation a year or more ago.. I've never read / heard of one actually being sucked into the engine.

Must admit for a few rather "dim" minutes, on my original air box I tried undoing the hex screws holding the brackets on rather than the brackets to the block. Purely as I thought I hadn't got the tools to get leverage on the block screws but I had. I think they're still quite secure but I couldn't be arsed taking the top of the box again to check. Fingers crossed. Probably worth checking again in a few weeks armed with some thread lock.

Snap .... biggrin

I had the ACT Air Box fitted at Dulfords in April 2007 at the same time as my rebuild/upgrade to 4.0L. I remember that the ACT Air Box was originally for the Cerbera and Tuscan, but they had not fitted one to a Tamora or T350 yet. So I blazed the trail because the steering rack universal joint (Tamora & T350 only) got in the way of the base of the original air box, so the base had to be sent back to ACT to be reshaped to allow it to sit over the universal joint properly. We managed to get the new base to fit after many reshapes, so ACT took that on to be the standard base for Tamoras and T350s smile.

My old box had araldite on the backs of the back rivett heads to stop them making a bid for freedom!
