Normally I'm happy with the s6 soundtrack but it would be nice to have a decent system for the drone of motorway driving and being stuck in traffic or just around town.

Currently I have a factory fitting system with Pioneer head and (4"?) Pioneer rears that sound a bit like gnats farting. I may change the head but I think the first problem is really the speakers.

I'm after a decent set up but don't want to end up loosing boot space or have to start cutting up door panels etc as I'd rather do it myself. Birthday is coming up and the missus is looking for ideas so seems like good timing.

Having looked at the few threads on here my current line of thinking is:

- Pioneer TS-S15 tweaters mounted on dash driven from existing head
- Replace current rears with Pioneer TS-A2013i (3 ways) driven from existing head - possibly upgrade this later to use a seperate amp

Any thoughts on this?

- anyone fitted these rears in their T? did it require any dremel work or was it straightforward?
- will it give me enough punch do drive around with the roof off or do I need to factor in an amp or new head now as well?

Don't really want to consider a sub unless I go for the "under seat" type as I don't want to loose any boot space. Same goes for amps really as I'm lazy to install a new power feed etc at the moment although may do it later.

I went for 13cm MB quart reference components in the front and MB quart reference Mid base (16.5cm) at the back. the x-overs fit inside the doors and the rear one under the boot carpet.

Use the fade function in the head unit (I have an Alpine IPOD unit) to balance the sound out, no need for a sub.

Yeah the Tam has the same speakers and they're pretty rubbish, I had more or less the head unit in my old Fiat Coupe and it was decent enough so you shouldn't need to replace that

I had the stty little speakers in the Tam. Replaced with a set of 6 x 4 Three ways off Ebay and running of the same head unit, no additional amp etc, what a difference!!

Its all you need to do.

What I did:

Upgrade the speakers in the existing locations and add some tweeters to the front to bring the sound stage forward (works amazingly well), all driven off the head unit. To beef the bass up, put a Clarion slimline under seat type sub against the front bulkhead in the passenger footwell and hide it behind the carpet. Balance the levels. Job done!

Easy DIY job, cheap to do, light weight, invisible, and no cutting up the interior and spoiling it with huge great ugly speakers. Oh and it sounds great!!

IMO anything more is pointless and at odds with the whole point of a TVR.

I'm going to get a set of Polk M691s when I can be arsed...marine use speakers so no fear of getting caught in a shower with the roof down and they're supposedly one of the best 6x9s out there, all for only 100 odd quid.

Ok so update -

Bought a Pioneer MVH-8300BT head unit and some Pioneer TS-E1702IS- 17cm speakers for the rear having deduced that 20cm Pioneers certainly wern't going to fit in the back.

So far, did a test fit of the Pioneer h/u and have to say not happy with it. The front is really chunky and doesn't sit well in the T350 dash so I'm going to send it back and change it for something else; shame as it had all the features that I was looking for. If anyone else is considering this you may want to consider other options.

In terms of the rear speakers, I'm not convinced they are going to fit either. The problem seems to be the hatch unlocking mechanism on the left hand side.

Has anyone else managed to fit 17cm speakers in the rear of their T350 or Sagaris? Looking at other posts it seems it has been done in a Tamora but I'm wondering if that's because you don't have the same problem with the hatch mechanism.

I'm going to have another look at the measurements today but would be good to get some other experiences on this before I start enlarging the current speaker holes. I'm guessing the other option would be to go for 13cm in the rear but guessing I may then need a compact sub to get some depth.

Good move sending that pioneer back, I bought it online and by the time it was squeezed into my tuscan it was too late! Stupid control knob system not suited to a tvrs firm suspension
