Hi All,

Noticed last night it was a little stiff to change gear and seems worse this morning... also it just crunched going into reverse (from 5th).

Any thoughts? From what i've read previously i'm getting that pit in my stomach feeling that this could could point to the clutch frown

Cheers,

Andy

Does it still do it when it is fully warmed up? Sounds like the clutch is going to me. Do you know how many miles the clutch has done? They usually last up to 24k. Replacing is around 1k.

It does seems to get a bit better when warm...

Unfortunately not positive on the mileage on the current clutch - i'll give my friendly TVR garage a call...

Just had mine done because it was starting to get difficult to change gear. Clutch was £560-00 + fitting

Always best to go into reverse via 1st I've found, get them to check the oil.

It's even worse on a December start up. I always assume it's just the oils being cold. Mines always fine once warmed up.

Chaps, get those clutches changed if they feel flakey. Preventative maintenance is best, we all know they go. Last thing I want to see is TVRs on the hard shoulder giving non-believers another thing to laugh at! plus it will keep you in better stead at home (not having 'er indoors sit waiting for a recovery truck on a nice drive out).

Mine was doing exactly the same, reverse getting gradually worse which resulted in a new clutch - £750 + VAT from str8six.

Out of interest, what are the options?

Assume you pay £750 and that lasts another 20k miles - what about uprated parts? From what I've read it's not the friction material that wears out.

A Clever Trevor release bearing is a good enhancement most indies will recommend.
