Just had a new sender unit fitted to the tank and the dash sent off to be looked at and now have even more random readings plus fault codes 11 and 19 on startup. I'm guessing its back to the garage rather than a DIY fix, but anyone any ideas? Whilst I'm used to a certain amount of vagueness, completely random readings aren't helpful..

code 11 is 'fuel under min' code 19 is 'Diff temp over max'. Take it back, you paid for them to fix it it would appear its not fully fixed.

Yup, looking like that.. Dammit.. Still the new brakes have bedded in after a few hours drive to get it here last night..

ETA Electrical gremlins aside, thoroughly impressed with the set up of the car now compared to when I bought it. Putting decent shocks and good tyres on correctly sized wheels has made a hell of a difference.. Wouldn't be a TVR without a few small issues smile

Quick follow-up question. Anyone ever opened up their fuel tank to see if the sensor is in it's housing or has come off and is floating around the tank? Seems like an easy, (if messy) thing to check to avoid a days round trip.

The diff error (19) seems to have solved itself so I'm just left with a useless fuel gauge..

IIRC the sensor is a float type set up on a variable resistor, maybe the float has come off its arm or got stuck?. It could have a loose conection maybe if its showning zero all the time (not sure what the default would be if its a wiring issue)

Thanks thumbup I'll give that a go and see what happens. Already took a look at the top of the tank and just wasn't sure how much pratting around I'd have to do to access the tank..

Quick update.. Not managed to fix the gauge yet, not event tried to be honest - been too busy bedding the brakes in.. As a temporary measure I simply reset the trip when I filled up and when I was getting close to 200 miles topped up again. Currently on 230 miles, most of which were at French peage speeds. Would rather not run out totally again, so I'll fill up next time i head out..

if you're getting loads of random fault codes it's likely to be an earth problem.

Thanks.. Not getting completely random fault codes, but I'm going to check the earths anyway. Fairly consistent error codes so far and am getting the odd correct looking reading at times.
