Do new car builds at AM get code or project names?

For example the Lotus Evora was called Project Eagle*

Both. They used to have "DP" numbers, ie DP212, the lightweight prototype racer from the early 60s, or DP2034, the prototype Virage. This was their actual chassis number- eg DP2024/4. In recent years they have reverted back to project names- is "Project Vantage" from 1998, which became the Vanquish. Or using AM numbers- eg AM803 which became thre DB9, or AM305 which became the V8 vantage

See? Not at all confusing, is it!
