I wouldn't do it to my car as I'd feel guilty, but I'll bet every grease monkey who gets to move your car around the workshop when it's in for service does the same thing!

Also, ever seen a race car being started up and warmed up? They do it like that. Revvng to 4k (what it sounded like to me) won't hurt a modern, wet sumped engine with full syntheyic oil at a minimum of room temperature
