Hi all, I am new to PH and have recently become the proud owner of my first 2006 DB9 Volante. I want to upgrade the Sat Nav discs to 2011, I am aware of a Volvo part that I can use, but wondered if the firmware update replaces the existing Aston Martin splash screen with that of Volvo. Obviously don't want that to happen.

Many thanks

DH

I asked the same question - it stays Aston so nothing to worry about there!

If either of you know a great price for the disc then please send me the details, currently on 2010 and at times the routing is laughable (400 yards from destination but wanted to take me on an 8 mile detour)

I got a great friction dashboard mount.. it looks great and really the GPS never moves
That looks utterly crap as a permanent solution!! I admit I use my TomTom when in France as my euro discs are shot, but in the UK, the nav is good enough for the few times it's needed, once every 10 drives maybe.

The newer discs do make a difference t the usability, and £160 isn't a bad price. Aston want £330 I believe, absurd.

Better than the one above, but still look like a 90 quid Halfords satnav stuck in the hole for the Aston one. But I bet it works better.

Mine is fine as it is, takes me wherever I need to go.

ALTHOUGH sometimes it will get lost - was 12 miles out the other day after I drove home a different way than it wanted. It never recovered on that journey, although is fine now. Any thoughts? Is there a reset for it?

yeti, I can happily send you a backup of the 2005 or 2010 sat nav euro discs, as you seem to already own them and the discs are faulty. Let me know if this will help

Hi Guys, last may I bought a 2006 DB9 Volante and absolutely love it. This is too late to help the guys in the forum below but should help others, the satnav in my car was well out of date, but having read the comments listed I still wasn't happy paying £160 for an update when you can get a tom tom or similar for about half that cost. I continued searching and found an update for £35! The service from the company was great and it was a doddle to fit, worked perfectly first time. Took the car to France no problems even with very small places.
Their website is www.satnav-updates.com and they do loads of different vehicles. I would recommend them to anyone.

Happy motoring.

Are the DVD ones for the pre MY09 cars? My car is 2008 08MY with the original style interior .

I just bought this partial set of Volvo Nav DVDs off eBay to get the US East coast DVD that was missing on my US 2005 DB9 - worked perfectly first time. Ejected AM original (Central region) DVD from DVD unit in trunk, and inserted Eastern region DVD, restarted satnav and all good. Not the latest version I know, but I just wanted it for completeness (who uses this nav anyway?) Posted this just so you know that a specific version of the Volvo DVDs worked on a specific model. Text on first DVD reads:
Volvo VNS
VCC Part No. 30732910 0635
MELCO Part No. DVD-P2001/P28-5
Part No. T1000-11142 etc
2005Q3
Also in case NJ owners not aware, I see there is a new Aston Martin opening in northern NJ again at last - Smythe Aston Martin, Summit - later this month.
