This is hypothetical, I am not in a position to buy!

But, a few months back I saw an ad for (IIRC) a square light DBS circa 1970's model? A tremendous looking car and I am trying to find a picture/more information and was wondering if anyone here could shed any light?

Many thanks!

I'd check astonmartinS.com (note the 's') to see if you can recognize what you're looking for.

email williamp on here. He's written a book on the original V8 Vantages, including the DBS.

Thats not at all. Its Robin hamiltons Le mans racer, once based on a V8 from the mid 70s, but now with its own chassis number: RHAM001

Not sure what he means by the square headlight DBS- they all had round lights. The DBS, and the DBS V8 had four headlights, each just over 5" in diameter.

In 1972 these had some detailed improvements throughout the car, including the change at the front to one headlight per side: 7" items:

The six cylinder DBS was renamed "AM Vantage" and the DBS V8 was renamed, simply "V8". For the first time in astons history, the slowest car in the range was called the Vantage, traditionally reserved for the fastest. This tradition was continued until the V8 Vantage was launched in the early 2000's...

Its all in an excellent book:

which I recommend you buy. We've all got to live....!

Thanks Chaps!

I could have sworn it was labelled a square light DBS.......still could very well have been wrong!

The car in question was a dark blue, with upgraded wheels and looked truly menacing.

And yes, everyone should own one!! I test drove and backed out of buying a V8V 06 model a few years back. Should have bought it, really should have bought it!!!

Thanks again,

Milo
