Hello

Called up about a vantage which I am looking to buy, however one of the service's is out of line and wondered whether this would "bug" you or would it detract from the value of the car?

It's a 1 owner Nov '56 plate which is serviced AM Dealer throughout:

1. 1,097 miles 21/2/07 @ Reading Lancaster
2. 7,317 miles 09/11/07 @ Reading Lancaster
3. 13,372 miles 18/11/08 @ Reading Lancaster
4. 14,191 miles 19/11/09 @ Reading Lancaster
5. 15,168 miles 07/07/11 @ Aston Martin Works Service

Obviously it missed a service Nov 2010 due to being in storage.

Thanks

If the car was stored and not used between the services it wouldn't bug me, but whether it would affect the resale value to someone whom it may bug is another matter.

Interesting point though - should a car be serviced if in storage and not used at all.

If you had a letter explaining that it was in storage from either the owner or Aston dealer then I wouldnt worry too much regarding future re-sale.

The serious lack of use over the last four years would be a major concern!

The care taken while in storage is what you need to know about. If it has been just in the a damp garage nearly all that time eek

It can even get corrosion INSIDE the engine if not run for a long time. Would make sure you get a full warranty cover on it, likely to be a lot of pent up issues to surface!

I think you guys are right, the lack of use is an issue. I've had a car before with low miles where the lack of use gave me no end of problems later on.

Apparently it was stored in a legitimate car storage place as the owner was out of the country.

corrosion in the bores would be my biggest concern... I think this was mentioned on another thread recently.. along with some words from Bamford Mike...
If the car was started and run on a regular basis then its probably ok..

My old V8 would often sit for 3 - 4 weeks between use.. I never had a problem with it aside from flat spotting tyres, which soon rectified themselves..

Blimey I think there may be problems with some new cars then because I know of a few that have been sitting at dealers for up to 12 months !!
