DD & Temple Run
Discussion
A bit obscure but I am sure some on here will have the App Temple Run on their iPhone/pad etc. If not, get it.
I shall set the scene.
Last week I was basking in the sun at my local and consumed over a two hour period a couple of pints of Belgiums finest. I should add I wasn't driving.
I felt absolutely fine and if asked if fit to drive I would have answered in the affirmative, this being only a couple of beers over a reasonable amount of time.
At this point I want to clarify I Don't drink and drive.
When I got home I was mucking about playing this App, Temple Run. For those that have no idea of what it is, it involves a great deal of eye/finger/reaction/ dexterity.
When bored during the day I can happily reach a score of 500,000 no real problem.
However, after just a couple of beers, and a reasonable time lapse alcohol free, 20,000 was the best I could achieve.
I mentioned this to a work colleague who had thought exactly the same.
Far more than propaganda, I reckon this silly little App really demonstrates the utter stupidity of anyone thinking they can D&D.
Sorry, I am in no way lecturing, its just the 1st time I've seen my faculties impaired when I would have sworn I was 100% ok.
Anyone who has the App, give it a try. Its eye opening how useless you become after even a modest imbibement.
Here endeth this evenings sermon.

My kids play this and my 16 year old daughter easily scores over 3 million. Perhaps a sign that your reflexes diminish with age as well as alcohol. I usually trip over the first root! Must mean I'm ancient or perpetually p155ed….or perhaps just no good at the ruddy game!!

Not got the app but I'll try it.
I tend to have 2 pints and drive, but generally no more. It's early mornings that would catch me out if any tbh, have driven to work when I probably shouldn't have on a fair few occasions.
George we know you drink wife beater (stella). you will be over the limit on 2 pints of it. I tend to have 2 pints and drive, but generally no more. It's early mornings that would catch me out if any tbh, have driven to work when I probably shouldn't have on a fair few occasions.

I drink Stella Cidre, it's not as strong as the lager, very much doubt I'll be over after 2 pints, and I've only got a mile or so to go on back roads
Interesting point of view, from DrinkAware site 2 pints of that stuff is 5.7 units of alcohol, an amount which puts you at significant risk of being over the limit. It all depends upon you and your own bodies rate at which it absorbs and metabolises alcohol but all the advice is that you will probably be over the limit at that level.
Regarding the distance you travel, all accidents happen within 1 mile of another point on the road but I'm sure any jury will take it into account of course. Probably.
Hope is a wonderful thing, hope you are under the limit, hope you don't get stopped, hope you don't have an accident etc. problem is you have to be right every time, and wrong just once. Sorry not preaching George, everybody makes their own decisions but the more information you have the better those decisions will be. In my past I picked up enough body parts and investigated enough tragedy to know that even very small amounts of alcohol can have significant consequences.
Di's point is a point well made.

I totally agree. I do not have even a mouthful of alcohol and then drive. I have never done it and i'm not about to start. It's not worth it.Regarding the distance you travel, all accidents happen within 1 mile of another point on the road but I'm sure any jury will take it into account of course. Probably.

As Steve says above, you have to be right every time and only wrong once for it all to go pear-shaped. A few years back, I spent months in hospital and years recuperating from an accident where I was hit by a drunk driver who 'only had a couple' (he died at the scene, so this is 'evidence' from the friends he was drinking with).
My best mate at the age of 19 was squashed against another car and killed instantly by someone driving over the limit who also swore blind he 'only had a couple'.
Frankly, I have zero time for anyone that drinks and drives.
