Hello guys, anybody knows how to get that popping sound from the exhaust once you release the gas pedal? Apart from buying a Vantage S/V12 of course smile

The car is a V8 Roadster with a quicksilver supersports exhaust!

Cheers

Lift quickly off the throttle but not at too many revs; at least this is how to get a Vanquish to pop and crackle. Also does it more when the exhaust and engine are cold.

When your lifting off the thottle, give the thottle a light dab - that should help

thanks for the replies! Nick, removing F22 won't do any difference. Quicksilver exhaust doesn't have any valves!

laugh doh skim reading there!
How old is the Quick Silver?
I've found my AM sports exhaust pops and crackles more the older it gets.
A quick blip between gear changes usually does it (or H&T)

How do you heel and toe in a sportshift? tongue out

I find it does it on downshifts a lot, or as others have said, a quick burst of acceleration then lift off at about 4k rpm smile

my standard 4.3 with fuse 22 out does it a lot, especially when cold

try using 98RON fuel (if not already)

Very light throttle when decelerating should do it, the noise is unburnt fuel igniting in the hot exhaust, so you need a bit of fuel going through the engine, but no so much that you start to accelerate and burn all the fuel in the cylinder

My 4.3L would do on overun when cold and the new V12V does same but louder. When warm I could not get 4.3 to pop and bang and whilst the V12 still will its not as much as when cold.

But in both cases it was much more pronounced once Fuse 22 was out (fuse 15 and 22 in V12V).

Fankly I am glad its not just me that gets a buzz out the noise of my Aston clearing it throat first thing in the morning.

I know it's sad but I used to go out in the dark just to see it

Quicksilver Super Sport + 200 cell Cats = pop crackle pop all day long. Quite wonderful especially between shifts and lifting off the throttle.
