Not sure of the company without checking.... But the Broker is Mannings uk...

I was always with them with my TVR, and the one claim I ever had was dealt with very well, so I've stuck with them...They have an AM specific policy... Total for this year was £520.... Last year was £575..

My insurance went down too....but after negotiation and a reduction of limited miles from 4k/yr to 3k/yr...was £521, they tried to up it to £640 with the renewal notce and I negotiated it down to £513.

Aviva were £50 more than Admiral for the quote on my 08plate V8V Roadster (£630 as opposed to £580).
That's with 10 years NCB , 8000 miles per annum , allocated parking space outside flat & NO insistence on Tracker being enabled.

My initial renewal quote with Adrian Flux was more than double both of the above !!!
They came down after the usual haggling on the phone - but we're still some £300 more than the above 2 quotes !

Am I being taken for a ride? I pay nearly £1300!!

I'm 45, 8 yrs NCB, only 3 points and two other cars each with their own NCB.

This is for SDP & commuting to one place of work and limited to 7k miles p.a.

My insurers also insisted on tracker subscription so another £170 on top.

Sorry to say it, but yes, it looks like you are being taken for a ride

Most insurers seem to charge a penalty for staying with the same company. Switching costs are so low nowadays, so they don't seem to mind losing people, so they will add something like 10% every year until you go. Then when you look round, the same company will often offer the same insurance for up to £200 less, and there is usually someone wants to get you on their escalator so will offer you comparable insurance for even less.

I'm insuring a 4.7 V8 Vantage + a 4.2 V8 Audi A8 for £1118

Mine is based on being a little older than you.smile 5k miles, no commuting (retired)... Low crime area, car is garaged..No points, I never go over 30..... Full no claims bonus
No tracker requirement..

I stuck with my existing insurer and transfered from my DB7 as to cancel with only 5 months left would have meant I recieved very little refund. Cheaper to pay the extra 300 quid.

Live in Derbyshire so hardly Sin City.

The best quotes I had using meerkat et al were all between £1300 - £1800 for the serious ones (some at £10k plus)

Adrian Flux were really appologetic that they couldn't below £1500 even though I insure two of my kids cars with them.

AMOC insurers no better.

I don't garage the car at night as it was a choice between build an extension and buy my first Aston , a DB7 GTA two years ago.

Well I'm Leicestershire and I pay about £950.00 with Aviva. Very similar circumstances to you but no limit on mileage and no insistance on Tracker

There is a really good 'how to' on Martin Lewis' website on getting the best price, the order to do the comparisons sites etc. Compare the Market doesn't do very well, they should have stuck with meerkats

I usually keep going until I feel it looks like a good deal, then use Quidco and others to try to make it even better. Its tedious, but pays me at the effective rate of about £100 per hour to sit at home on the PC.
