Sorry to hear about your predicament Hartley - it's all over my Beamers at work and it's highly corrosive stuff !!

Paddy should be able to advise but at the mo he is banned and when he does return he will no doubt be on top form smile

Never had it on any of my roofs (thank god)
On paint I spray it with a dilute general purpose clean to soften it then flush it off with the pressure washer.
Sound like you may have rubbed it in to the cloth frown

When I had a soft-top I used to use the Autoglym hood care kit that has a cleaner and a protectant. The cleaner might do the trick, and the protectant definitely makes cleanup easier the next time. Also keeps water beading up nicely. Not too expensive & should be easy to find.

Sorry if this has been raised before but how on earth can you be banned from Pistonheads - did he buy the wrong car ?

You can be banned for anything the mods decide you can be banned for - I believe his was 'advertising'.

We all know he's a detailer and interested in Astons. But if he recommends something, and, if other forums I'm on are anything to go by, if SOMEONE COMPLAINS then he gets a ban frown

/please don't ban me

He was banned for blatant advertising and even mentioned it in the post. He was touting for another car to do after doing JohnG1's yesterday.

Jeez, so what if he was touting for work.... We all know what he does, and we're al big boys and girls, and can decide for ourselves if we want his services..... The bottom line is he Contributes helpful advice, and most of us are very greatful for it..

PH really do need to get a grip, if banning a one man band trying to earn a crust is that high on the agendarolleyes

It is actually quite easy to get banned from PH even for non commercial stuff.
I know of at least three so far this year.

Yeti is correct - if the 'report' button is hit then Mods are duty-bound to look at it.

Some Mods are quite strict, others a bit more lenient - this forum is hardly a contentious one so I'm assuming Paddy may have been reported smile

Have to say I am very impressed that my Seagull st has magically turned into Seagull Guano - presumably also part of the vital role played by Mods . Others may draw parallels with the secret police in USSR of old or China but on this occasion I am inclined to welcome the trade off between freedom of expression and retaining certain standards - well done Head Office !

Blatant advertising? Then absolutely, death is too good for him. Bring back hanging, or the birch, or national service. It wasn't like that in my day, I didn't fight in two world wars for you to have a haircut like that, we only had powdered eggs and no bananas etc

Who cares? rolleyes The man details cars for a living and posts SO much advice on here - not actually touting his services but merely recommending products he likes that we (or more accurately, those that clean their cars) might like. I regard that as helpful, not seditious smile

For the record, I have never met him. He just seems a helpful sort.

HAHAHA JohnG1's car is cleaner than mine!! I knew he'd cave smile

A good few I think, ours is 'Big Al' - but as you point out, there are thousands of posts, hence something usually has to be reported for whatever reason before trouble brews...
