I went for a test drive in a Fiat 500 TwinAir Plus today (875cc, 2 cylinder turbo) which my partner and I are thinking about as a day to day run about (I hate leaving my DB9 at station/supermarket car parks). What a fun car! Loads of kit as standard and really, really fun to drive - sounds good too. After nearly an hour in the 500 got back into the DB9 to drive home. I always find this is to sort of time you realise what special cars Aston Martin's are!

Get the Abarth 500 with Essesse pack instead smokin They're great fun smile

Haven't driven the Twinair, but heard it's nowhere near as economical as it should be, but is quite fun to drive. I'd take a 2nd hand Abarth for a similar price, and it shouldn't be that much worse on economy.

I'll always remember strolling hand on hand along Lake Como one summer evening several years ago; suddenly the still night was torn asunder by the noise of a Fiat 500 Abarth being driven flat-out through Tremezzo and roaring off into the distance.

I have wanted one ever since...

AM should have learned from Ferrari with the 500 Abarth 695 Tributo Ferrari. That is one cool little car, and can sort of pull off the £40k price tag (compared to the Cygnet).

Standard Essesse pack is 160bhp and that is immense fun, the 180bhp 695 must be absolutely fantastic! There's a space for one in my fantasy garage smile

I'd second George's recommendation on the Abarth 500 with the Essesse pack - but you need the Monza exhaust too! I part ex'ed the Abarth against the V8V and although I love the V8V, I do miss the Abarth. They would make a perfect pair.

Oddly enough I went the other way - from V8V to Fiat 500 1.2 Lounge in a "sublime to the ridiculous" moment !

I wasn't really using the Aston as much as I would have liked partly due to it's width on our very very narrow potholed and high banked rural roads which made getting out of the village a nightmare when faced with bolshie oncoming tourist/townie traffic, vans and lorries who insist on driving 4 feet off the nearside so their wheels don't get muddy, and also partly due to spending most of my time on a quad with a gun !

So after 3 years (to the week strangely) it went - almost overnight thanks to Pistonheads classifieds, and I really enjoy the Fiat - especially the £30 road tax and 55 mpg ! At about 3 feet wide its so simple to get past other vehicles and I don't care when it gets covered in mud or drops into potholes!

I did however lose a lot of cred in the village, and the local barmaid no longer seems quite as friendly...............!!!
