Do you take the long way round?

I had to take some dry cleaning in today and the cleaner is less than a mile away in the local village. I could have taken any car but decided I would take the Aston, and because it was so close I decided to take a longer route so that I could enjoy the drive and let the engine heat up properly.

So after eight miles I decided it was time to turn back and get to the cleaners! A round trip of over sixteen miles for a journey that should have taken less than a minute, but a journey that had me smiling all the way as I got to drive some lovely twisty country roads near home

I am alone in actually taking the wrong car and then using the excuse to have a great drive? My wife thinks I am crazy

I do that too
Sometimes I merely drive around aimlessly with no particular destination in mind and sometimes it's to avoid a particular direct road which has vicious speed bumps!!

Anyway, as I see it, I'm doing the general public a favour letting them see and hear such a beautiful car!!

Went out for petrol tonight.... Shell garage is just under a mile away... Took half an hour!!!

I've become a big believer in taking the long way everywhere. My wife thinks I'm nuts, but she's also learned to take advantage of my willingness to pick her up or drop her off anywhere.

And my daughter has become my latest accomplice. She and I conspired to change her vacation return flight to the airport closest to where I live. That means we get a 150 mile journey together in the DB9 to get her home (300 miles return for me).

I thought this was compulsory ! Short journeys are really bad and one has to ensure that everything is properly 'warmed up' or it will wear out and break down and make it rain.......!! That's what my dad used to say before we went on a 20 mile thrash to the paper shop half a mile away - it's important to maintain traditions!!
