Tyres for comfort on DB9

Does anybody have a view as to whether different tyre options on a (2006) DB9 Volante will offer different ride comfort levels - or will it not make much difference ? Sure I saw something on one of the threads about stiff side walls on some tyres making the suspension a bit crashy ? Thinking of getting the Yeti 'stiffening treatment ' from BR but want to change the tyres at the same time for max ride comfort

You could get the switchable dampers! Goes from a Sports Pack type weapon with razor sharp turn in; flick of a switch you'd think you were in a Rolls for those long motorway drives 
I miss my car, just as the sun comes out to play as well!

Yeti be honest is the soft setting on the switchable dampers much better than the standard ride or is it just much better than the hard ride ? I'd love a Merc S class ride on my DB9 - how would it compare ? Tyres ?I miss my car, just as the sun comes out to play as well!

Frankly, the Bridgestones are very poor regarding ride comfort. They are some of the worst available. A stiff tyre isn't necessary to make it a good handler. Additionally, the Bridgstones are very noisy. Check the new (relatively) Michelin Pilot Super Sport as an alternative.hartley said:

Bear in mind I have 20" DBS wheels as well and the Pirelli P-Zero tyres... the softer setting feels like it's as soft as a standard DB9, but there's no roll in the corners. No crashes over bumps and because of the shear plates, no wobbles or squeaks from the car either. On the motorway / boring road it is quite eerie, it just passes over potholes, expansion joints, everything without a noise or a crash. It rides far better than either my XKR (on CATS daptive damping) or my S-Type V8 did. By conrast, my Skyhook Maserati felt floaty and almost unstable when on the softer setting. Also the car would sometimes bounce and keep bouncing after a bump/shock! Kept it on SPORT (firm) almost all of the time, so I didn't consider it to be switchable!
I have a lot of work booked with Bamford Rose over the next few months - if you're thinking of going to them for the shear panels and roll bar, arrange a date when my car is in and take it along the Fosse Way where they are based; a nice fast A-Road with a variety of surfaces and bends. I know you aren't looking to blow the budget, but the car is transformed. You won't believe it's the same car!
I found the Bridgestones harsh on my DB9 coupe and switched to Continentals (couldn't get first choice Michelin Super Sports in the right size at the time). Same load & speed ratings, lighter tire. Definitely quieter and less harsh over seams & bumps, though still firm. Good grip but feel a bit less sharp if you're really pushing. Depends on the type of driving you do.
