Oil pressure relief valve - warranty or not?

My car is gong back to Grange tomorrow for various things, and one of the investigations being done is the Chewbacca wookie noise when the car is warming up. This is a well documented V8V noise from the oil pressure relief valve which many people live with as it goes when the engine is warm and apparently does not do any harm to the engine.
I spoke about it to an engineer at Grange and he will drive the car from cold on Wednesday morning and hear the sound for himself. He did say that if it is the oil pressure relief valve sound then AM has changed the part to a different material which erradicates the sound. I was told by the workshop manager that this is not covered under warranty, and I suspect that is becasue the part is probably cheap but it is around ten hours labour to fit it.
Given that AM has changed the part to a new material because the old one has this problem of making a wookie type sound, should I try and insist that this is done as a warranty item, even though the noise starts as the old valve starts to wear? I am guessing that at dealer rates the labour will be £1,500 or more.

I would argue warranty on the basis that they have changed the material due to the original part being inferior and therefore making unacceptable noise on an £80K car...
I got my passenger window adjusted under warranty for excessive wind noise 2 years ago. I argued that I would not expect a car of this cost to be noisy and have poor fitting windows. They agreed.

John - was it the door window module not pushing the window up on closing ?? When that happens you might as well perforate your eardrum before you get in the car

Well I will be arguing for warranty if there is any debate on the matter. I have one year of extended premium warranty on the V8V and, given that the part has been modified because it gets noisy, I would expect the revised part to be fitted FOC.
