Ventureshield?

Hi

I am looking to get some PPF applied to my car and understand quite a few AM owners have used Ventureshield.

I have heard good things about Paintshield but not a lot of feedback on Ventureshield.

I am looking for any feedback, good or bad, as Ventureshield is coming out at half the price of Paintshield

VentureShield is a 3M product with good warranty on the product and the approved install
I inherited it on my last roadster and it was a revelation.
I put it on my S roadster from new full V12V kit plus full bonnet.
I found the VS kit to be the most comprehensive (even includes door handles, lights and HID washers)
Make sure you paint work is spotless before you put anything on (it seals everything in ) and leave it overnight before driving it
I have 3 chips on mine in 4k miles of B roads blasts, all are where there is no VS

I'm having the whole front end repainted so wanted to make sure whatever film I use will stop it from chipping

I have had one of each, on two different cars, based on who the supplying dealer worked with in each instanc. I have either been unlucky with the type of chips or paintshield was better

Incidentally, a dealer yesterday was telling me about a 'self sealing' PPF option and he clarified this by saying ti was one of the well known brands that offered two films, a regular one and a self healing one that was also more suitable for detailing the film itsled. I've never heard of this and am a little sceptical - anyone else ?

Some bad news for you
You need to leave the new paint for 3-4 weeks to set and degas properly before applying the PPF
I left my new car for 3 weeks then had it detailed, the paint corrected and machine polished before having the VS put on.

I have the bare minimum on mine Craig - very bottom of front bumper, 2 rectangular patches behind front wheels, 2 shark fins in front of rear wheels.

Apologies, but don't know which one it is but it can be bloomin effective

I have a shield on mine which was put on when new but don't know which one. It covers the front bumper, headlights, front of bonnet, lower sills, wing mirrors, rear acrches, boot lip and another place I cannot remember.

So far the only minor very tiny chip is on the bonnet halfway up where there is no shield.

I was told by Paintshield the paint needs to be left for 8 days before application - 3 weeks is a long time to wait

I also had a quote for the self healing film (Paintshield do it) and it was £1800! (for reference their standard kit was £1400 and Ventureshield is £700)

Not sure of the benefit of self healing film. The shield has been on my car for five years and it is unmarked, as is the bodywork (apart from the small chip I mentioned above). No point in paying more for self healing if it doesn't tear anyway.

That is a big difference is price though. Maybe another case of getting what you pay for, but double the cost is a big difference.

They are elastic enough to be unmarked by bolts and cans bouncing of my bonnet
Just never been marketed as such

You might get away with 8 days (depends on paint system, ventilation & ambient temps I guess)
I'm the cautious type (watch it Jockman ) so stuck to the 3 weeks - it was painful

I have just had Ventureshield fitted to my Vantage.

I had the standard front kit which includes full bumper, part bonnet, lamps, part front wings and door mirror backs. In addition I had full sills done and extended rear arches which covered the rear wings between the sill joint and the swage line, back to the arch. Overall cost was £850 fitted.

Initial thoughts are quite positive - there is an element of self healing in the film - got some bird lime on one of the lamps before I had sealed the film and this initially marked it, but after a few days the mark disappeared.

A slight note of caution though - When I picked my car up having had the film fitted, it was raining very heavily with lots of standing water on the road and I had a 50 mile drive home. This caused some problems with the film, particularly to the edges at the front of the sills and on the leading edges of the rear wings as the adhesive had not fully cured. The installer sorted it out for me with no quibble whatsoever, but If I had it done again, I would leave the car overnight before driving it in rain.

I had Ventureshield fitted on my 55 plate 997 C2S in Seal Grey
Brilliant installation and was really happy with it. It washed
over really well, didn't mark, and the Swissvax I used on the car
worked well on the film.

Now

My Basalt Black C2S is fitted with the latest 3M Venturshield product.

Not impressed at all!

It leaves fly/bug residue, marks very easily, doesn't clean/detail up
the same way as it did on my older Seal Grey car.....

It looks shabby and has not aged well at all. It marks all the time
no matter how much time and effort I put into removing dirt/bugs/insects
etc....

The product HAS clearly changed (no pun intended) and in my opinion
is not worth the money or the hassle.

The fitter/retailer has been asked to remove it, and he's saying it
may take the paint off my previously restored front PU bumper
(no worries with the first installation on the Seal Grey car)

They say it is a 'warrantied' product? Lets See...................

Also may be worth getting a quote from Armourfend. Same 3M product I think and they have the patterns.

The company that fits the shield must make a big difference to the final appearance, anyone you'd recommend in the NW? Or anyone I should avoid?

These guys did my second one
I was really picky over the quality and they got it right with a bit of fettling
Warranty on workmanship and prodcut from them

Yep they did mine as well......... will get them to remove it asap too...
