Sportshift 1 - The Good, the Bad and the Ugly

OK, 8 months or so into ownership of my MY08 Roadster. Here's my take on SS1 (having come from a manual Vantage before).

Good: On road driving, down-changes, throttle blips - brilliant. Extra storage space - gone is the rather drab looking gear stick (Volvo origin?)

Bad: Having to do clutch learns (and no-one tells you this - I learned it from this forum). Juddery pull away from stationery.

Ugly: Reversing uphill on a gravel drive into my garage when the engine is cold. Clutch constantly engaging and disengaging, engine revs like mad or stalls, can't take foot off brake completely otherwise you start careering backwards at speed. Absolutely no control at all. Doesn't matter how many clutch learns I do beforehand.

On balance I still prefer the SS, but I can't believe AM didn't test it thoroughly. I'll be saving up for an V8VS with the SS2.

Nearly opted for SS on my first car, glad I didn't. SS2 on my V8S is brilliant especially after the gearbox has had a recent software upgrade. I know a lot of you like your manual boxes; try SS2 it really is good

Gents, any info on this new software patch? Any idea of the content/changes? My V8VS roadster was new January of this year, I presume the patch is recent?

Ask your supplying dealer the difference is immediately noticeable.

Just hardware Mine is hopefully having the short shift linkage fitted at Bamford Rose this week! Should feel great, I'll report back!
