Evening all.

For years I have wanted to be a part of this section of PistonHeads and now it looks like I'll have to stop lurking and start contributing.

I have put a deposit down on an AMV8 and am waiting for the car to be prepped and become mine.

Here she is: http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/3959545.htm

If anyone here knows the car then I'd appreciate some pointers, online or off.

Seems to have a good spec and fairly low mileage for the price, so I'm quite happy with the deal.

Congratulations! Welcome to the fold.Ask Stratstone to remove the number plate plinth and lower accordingly, while they are at it pull fuse 22 out as well. It is a virtual crime not to.

Erm you do know that's not a 420 BHP 4.7 as advertised
It's a 4.3 380 BHP early car (heated screen, console, wheels & roof aerial give it away)

Soon to be former BMW owner.

To be completely honest, my one concern with the new car is, after having a Z3M Coupe and a Z4M Coupe, will an AMV8 feel fast enough? These two cars have been ridiculously good fun to drive.

Yep. The 4.7 didn't come out until a while after 2006 right?

Probably not..... But it's far more special..... And besides most people spend 95% of their time stuck behind a row of traffic anyway....smile

I know which car I'd rather be sat insmile

Yes Gareth I'm sure they were, but both ugly as sin compared to the Aston!

Hello and welcome!!

Without wishing to rain on your parade (although it's the weather for it...) I hope you didn't buy it based on it being a 420bhp 4.7 model, as stated in the ad.

It certainly looks like a 2006 model (also stated in the ad) which, if this is the case (and unless it's had the BR 4.7 conversion), means it's a 4.3 380bhp model.

Easiest way to tell is to look under the bonnet - it'll become clear very quickly!

Like I say, honestly not wanting to dampen your spirits, but just to make sure you get what you think you're getting.

Either way, it's a fantastic car and easily fast enough. And the 4.3 V8 has the best sound smile

Disclaimer - I'm on my phone so may be clicking through to the wrong ad?!

No it won't feel like your Z4M you won't get pushed back into your seat in every gear.

The Aston is not slow but not the same power delivery.

You will get noticed in the Aston i hope your ready for this and it's a tad louder biggrin

Enjoy

Congrats, great car!

Besides a "fuse 22 button", I would also go for the factory power upgrade: it then will have 400+ BHP, but more important, is much more smooth on the gas and runs much smoother at/to higher speeds!

You can see if the car maybe already has it, when it has a black (instead of silver) engine cover.

Enjoy!

Congrats .... Lovely colour combo and looks a good price for a relatively low mileage car .. Hope it all works out well for you.
The customer experience from the Derby team is also very good.

There is of course a better way to improve drivability and power for only slightly more money smile

Interesting. Roughly how much does this cost and how long are you without the car?
