Are 'AM' bridgestones worth the extra cash?

I am a very proud first time owner of an Aston, Vantage 4.3 roadster, and bought the car knowing the tyres would need replacing. Is it worth paying the extra for the 'AM' Bridgestones as opposed to the standard ones?

Apologies if this has already been covered in previous threads, I did have a quick look but couldn't find this covered.

I'm sure it's something to do with the sidewall being stronger to deal with heavy cars. I would always go for the Aston ones but I'm sure there are others that wouldn't bother.

I would counter having spent all that on a car why risk the wrong tyres

Thanks for the comments chaps. I agree it's an expensive car and for the amount of money involved, it doesn't make sense to take the risk on something as important as tyres.

Just a rumour - little on the forums about it. Stick with Aston tyres IMO.

There is a lovely brand new black V12V at Grange - beautiful car. They have a new carbon edition DBS convertible too with a really funky black metallic paint job.

No Vanquish though

Could it be Carbon Black II as used on the DBS Ultimate edition? I have no idea what the difference is between that and regular Carbon Black paint though!

Maybe. It has lots of metallic in it and looks almost grey when the lights hit it.

Gareth I had my rears replaced in March by JCT and they were insistent that I should only used the Aston-marked tyres.

Strangely, they couldn't explain why

I was told that it was the speed rating. The AML marked ones are over 150mph.

Any W, Y or Z speed rated tyre is good for over 150 mph. The AM9 on the tyre shouldn't make it any more capable of working at those speeds.
