1st trip to Le Mans

Hard to really sum up what it's like to travel down to one of the greatest car races in the world and spend four days soaking up the atmosphere but I will give it my best go.
Lewis/Yeti and I met up at Portsmouth on Wednesday night for the crossing. I have travelled down the M27 many times but have never seen so many fabulous cars,
Once in Caen we decided to take the scenic route heading to Le Mans but taking in some awesome roads, along with a few coffee and food stops.
Nothing really prepares you for the sheer size of the place, when searching for our campsite we did a perimeter check well I say that but what I meant to say was a chubby French boy continually sent us in the wrong direction ! But It did give me an idea of how huge the place is.
Once settled in and tents in place we headed up to watch the final practice, beers in hand of course.I have been to a few races but nothing really compares to the thrill I experienced just awesome.
We were lucky to have grandstand seats as well which for the start and finish really made it special. There was so much to do and really amazing people to meet that the time did fly by.
If you have never been you really have to try to go it’s one of the best things I have done and made even better by Aston coming third.
Driving in France is always a joy as the roads generally are so good but traveling with Yeti in convoy was just a blast so many people waving and taking photos, even the police took our photo which was nice but costly!!

I would love to do Le Mans again. Used to go every year for around 15 years but stopped when the family arrived. I always remember the atmosphere, the Mercier champagne tent, the noise and the quality of French roads.
Good to hear you had such a great time. Looks like you'll be going for many a year to come. Maybe I'll get to go again one year
