Fuse 22 or is it 15?

Just got 'THE BOOK' which is excellent. But on p 105 Grant has added a note for MY2011 cars that THE fuse is now No 15 not 22.
I've been happily roaring around with 22 pulled for a couple of months and as far as I can see everything works ok! .... So what does 22 do? Or is my car older than I think??

I thought I knew but Im not sure its quite as simple as it being MY11 onwards... My first V12V was MY10 and it was fuse 22... The new V12V is MY11 but it also appears to be Fuse 22 not fuse 15 (or at least the manual says it is).
In fuse 15 I have a 5Amp fuse and in fuse 22 I have a 20Amp fuse. Therefore I have good reason to believe that on my MY11 car its fuse 22 as per the manual and contra to the held theory that it should be fuse 15.
However when I pull either fuse 22 or fuse 15 I really cant tell a difference in sound!!!! Im putting this down to the fact that the engine is brand new and I have got used to a car with 5k miles on it...
Thoughts anyone?

as you know heated front screens went out for the 2008MY 
A.M. got creative with the exhaust valve fuse (to stop people getting around the drive by noise regs). The manual still says 22 (which became a dummy), but it changed to 15 for the 011MY. Martyn, check the 10th digit of your VIN if it is B you have an 011MY (C= 12 A= 10 etc.). This isn't to say that A.M. won't make it a moving target

Adam, my V12V exhaust is the same - volume doesn't seem to change dramatically fuse in or our, Sport in or out, although I can hear the clear difference with the parcel shelf taken out!

ok so you are certain that if its MY11 its fuse 15??? The 10th digit of my car is a "B" and it says MY11 on the dealer spec sheet so Im pretty certain I have a MY11 car. However isnt it odd that I have a 5Amp fuse in fuse 15?? I tried listening with the door open reving the car in the garage and couldnt tell either way, so not sure removing the parcel shelf will help, however In fairness I havn't driven the car on the road with fuse 15 out, as I had assumed my car was fuse 22 so have had that out since deliery. Its been bugging me that its quieter than my old car though which is what made me do my inconclusive tests in the garage the other night.
Is there any harm in removing both fuse 15 and fuse 22 then? The manual indicates that fuse 15 isnt used anyway so surely the best solution is to remove both???

ok ive just googled a little more given my confusion over the 5Amp / 20Amp situation and found this : http://www.6speedonline.com/forums/aston-martin/27.... Several owners reporting that it is indeed 5Amp so it looks like it is fuse 15 in my car and I shouldnt have been put off by this fact. I guess its all part of the AM creativity to cover it up!
I shall therefore be pulling fuse 15 before I go to work tomorrow! Cheers Grant for re-affirming it is Fuse 15 and putting me back on the right path.

Adam, try putting both back in taking the parcel shelf out and driving while using the sport button (on/off) to compare sound volume with each fuse out. As you well know the V12V is rather a specialist beast and didn't receive exactly the same updates as the V8, but as far as I'm aware it is still fuse 15 MY11+ (although I didn't list that in the V12V MY changes to be safe) - just checking.... I assume you have the original under dash tyre pressure monitor rather than BERU individual tyre in-car display?
Ok confirmed it is definately Fuse 15 on my car (MY11). I pulled it out this morning and the car was refreshingly loud once again, just like my old car.
One has to ask - if Fuse 22 was 20Amps and Fuse 15 is 5Amps, does that mean that all cars before MY11 were running with a fuse that was too rated too high for purpose??? Surely thats dangerous to some extent?

Just checked my V12V Vin and its a B i.e. MY11. When I got it in Jan I took out fuse 22 and it definately did nothing. Took out 15 and the valaves are open all the time. I now have both out at same time. Had wondered if there was something fuse 22 should be doing but I guess we can now assume it has no purpose. Looking forward to getting a switch in cab when I put it in for service next Jan, bit too loud & droaning on long motorway drives.

I believe the earlier cars used electrical actuators to open the flaps. Later cars use a vacuum piston so less electrical load (solenoid). BingoBob said:

Ahh that explains it then, so perhaps the fuse change was actually more to do with finding a spare 5Amp fuse in the fusebox without changing the spec of the fusebox than to do with trying to thrown people off how to remove the fuse.On a side note, I wonder why the noise regs allow a manufacturer to make a car with a factory button to bypass the valves (sport button). Seems a bit odd that the EU regs would allow such a simple work around?

In fairness Adam, I would be getting in the queue for the BR manifolds, 200 cell cats and the switchable exhaust. 550BHP and a beautiful noise to boot it seems.
