Emergency brake assist failure - N420 V8

Hi,

Just had the emergency brake assist warning light up, and I am just about to embark on a 200 mile trip.

I don't really understand the precise function of the EBS, but I am assuming its safe to drive the vehicle?

I hope its not a prerequisite to something that will render the car undriveable on my journey? Of course, I could always take the reliable Ford S-Max!

Anyone experienced the same prob?

I had this on my db9 last week turn the car off and back on again and it should reset...
As far as I know you can drive it.... But I am sure someone more technically endowed will confirm!

My understanding is amber warning light ok to drive red light you need AM Assist or a dealer . I had a DSC disabled warning whilst driving on holiday. Amber light so carried on. Parked up for lunch came back all ok. On my last V8 I had more warnings about tyre pressure monitoring than I care to remember but it always seemed to re set ok. Good luck and wouldn't worry too much if it's an amber warning light.

The only trouble is that the warning light is a red one, and after leaving the car parked for an hour; the lights comes back on after 5 mins of driving.

I think I will take the risk and take the Aston on the journey, because the alternative is a S Max

Warning lights in cars usually mean "Trouble"...........

You are surely still in warranty get Aston Martin Assist out they will be able to plug a reader in and tell you what's going on. I wouldn't risk a red warning light for the sake of a phone call.

It is likely to be the brake pressure transducer sensor/switch on the master cylinder. The function on this is to keep the brake pressure "on" when emergency braking because many folk release pedal pressure when they feel the ABS pumping back through the pedal.

These sensors do fail and through this warning up. No major concerns in driving unless you are *really* pressing on.

New switch/sensor is about £85 and 10mins to fit with a 22mm spanner.

Returned from my journey;the warning light seems to have reset itself on the return journey. Glad I took the Aston and not the S-max.

Will talk to dealer as soon as.

Have it checked, my warning lights on my volvo, which also cut out cruise control, would always reset on start up, and be fine for a couple of miles. Went in, and there was a fault in the ABS system.
