Don't like the Pirellis, Toni?

My experience of the Michelins (in an earlier incarnation on an M3 CSL) is that they have very similar characteristics to the P Zero Corsa System.

Time to resurrect this thread.

I'm after a set of Michelin Supersports in the Vantage S sizes (245/40/19 & 285/35/19). Apart from those listed about, has anybody got any other suggestions for well priced PSSs?

(BTW, Camskills seem to be the best price that I've found so far. But they are out of stock of the rears until late March or April).

Costco - and looks like they may be doing a deal just now that would get you a £60 fuel voucher http://www.warehouses.costco.co.uk/tyres/

Thanks, but I'm not a Costco member.

And, coincidentally, Michelin are currently running a promotion for a £100 fuel card if you buy 4 19" tyres: http://www.guildfordtyre.co.uk/promotions/michelin...

I used Blackcircles. Great price and local fitter has been top notch.

(For those in any doubt, Pilot Super Sports are very different to other Michelin models)

With Camskill don't you need to pay extra for fitting? Having been quoted 25 for a puncture repair I imagine a new tyre fitting would be similar.

Was looking at this yesterday for Blofeld.

Front: 235/40R19
Rear: 275/35R19

Michelin Pilot SS
Black Circle: (F) £221.46 (R) £278.87
My Tyres: (F) £217.70 (R) £254.00
Tyre Leader: (F) £211.89 (R) £212.69

Dunlop Sports Maxx (I had on my XKR)
Tyre Leader: (F) £177.99 (R) £155.69

I get them delivered to my local tyre specialists who fits and balance for £20 a corner.

I'm actually just going through the same quest at the moment for the Vanquish. Super Sports are all I want and it was a little tricky finding the right ones with the correct load rating but I got there in the end.

Costco's deal seems reasonable enough but I actually got a better cash price from a local tyre dealer friend so will be going there.

FYI, the Vanq runs 255/40/19 on the front and 285/40/19 on the rear.

Yep, you do. But I've been comparing mail order prices, in order to make it a 'fair' comparison.

Thanks for that lead, Speculatore. Tyre Leader looks like the best price so far.

No problem, happy to help. Please do not discount Dunlop Sports Maxx. I had them on my 2001 XKR which is a similar car to the DB9 with regards to weight etc. They were excellent wet and dry and the road noise was reduced with no 'Tramlining' compared to the OEM Pirellis. (They were 20" though).

The best tyre that I had were Toyo R1's which not only performed well actually looked better. I can't find a set to fit Blofeld but if I do it will be a choice between the Toyos and the Dunlop Sports Maxx.

Just to throw another make into the pot, I have used Goodyear Asymmetrics 2's on my Previous car RS4 Avant and have had 2-3 sets over the past 6 years. These seem to have the same Fuel, Wet Grip, Noise level as Super Sports. I have never seen these on an AM thread and wondered if there were any adverse comments, especially as previously I could not fault them...

I had a set of Eagle Assymetrics on my CSL before changing for a set of Supersports. IMHO, the Supersports outperformed the Assys in every department (except cost!) The Goodyears are cheaper for a reason. wink

David, Sport Maxx were excellent on my oil burner, but lasted only half the mileage of the Michelins I replaced them with. How ddi you find the wear rate on the XKR?
