DB9 ( 2007 MY) - Tires monitoring system fault

Gentlemen,
the warning "tires monitoring system fault" appeared on my dashboard as soon as I mounted the summer tires, equipped with the tires monitoring sistem gadget.
After appropriate checking: 1. tire pressure was all right everywhere; 2. all lights of the gadget (in front of the passenger seat) blinked correctly when switching on the car, then the lights turned off one by one except the gadget "main" indicator and the front-left tire indicator (both continue to blink orange).
Conclusion: the front left tire transmitter is no longer working: this may be logic, the car being a DB9 MY 2007 and the battery must be replaced.
The only question left is: how the "car check system" can IMMEDIATELY monitor the a/m fault whereas the "receiver" itself needs a few minutes ride to acknowledge the signal and work correctly.
Anybody has other suggestions?

If by DIY you mean: drive it yourself to the dealer; pay them for a new transmitter (since the battery is not replaceable); pay them to remove the wheel, un-mount the tire, replace the transmitter, re-mount the tire, re-balance the wheel, reinstall the wheel—then, yes, it is a DIY project. 
Have you tried driving the car a little to "wake up" the sensors?
Also, have you installed the wheels in the right positions? Check the collars on the valves:
Front Right: Green
Front Left: Red
Rear Right: Blue
Rear Left: Yellow
Or it could be the batteries, like Karl suggests. They last about 5-6 years.
