Aston Greens

So thinking about what I call traditional Aston racing green, as in original DB1, the DB4 Zagato sanction cars, etc

This is for speccing my V12VR

How much difference between Hardly Green

To me, the racing green looks a touch greener and a touch less metallic, but it's hard to tell from such pictures

I know we have a few hardly green fans on here - how different are the two ?

Aston Racing green is much greener than Hardly green. I'd have thought it would be more metallic than Hardly green too. It's still quite a light coloured green though, compared to ones like Buckinghamshire and Pentland green.

A V12VR in either of those will look fantastic imo

I'm familiar with Racing Green, assuming the heritage option is what I think it is, although will be interesting to see what the factory try to charge for a 'standard' Q range colour....

But never seen hardly green in the flesh - sounds likes it really is what the name says, 'hardly' green......

I have to say Jonby I didn't like the Hardley Green car that was posted up a couple of weeks ago - I think le Yeti summed it up nicely.

But that link you've posted up does show a very nice colour indeed. It ticks the 'understated' box as well as the 'contrast' box for the bonnet vents that I crave. I think it looks lovely in all honesty, though I'm not sure how understated a V12V monster can ever be.

Cannot comment on the other green solely from a swatch

It is 'hardly' green indeed. A very pale colour, but a fantastic one for an Aston. Suits them very well, it's still very subtle yet just a bit different. That's why I love it so much. I've only ever seen one car in it so it's got a nice uniqueness too.

I'd be interested to hear how much the Q colours cost too. Not that I'm planning on speccing a new car, just curious

Colour match to order is about 7.5k, so this is obviously going to be much less as it's from an existing palette

DBS special colours are around 1.5k

My guess is between 2.5k and 3.5k - I'm not saying it's justified, but that's my guess of what they'll ask/charge

I'd say around £4k. A relative bargain considering what it costs to paint the calipers!

Btw, if you do go for green, yellow calipers look fantastic with it

I really like the Harley green. I have Aston green on Jessica which is quite rare. According to Aston there is only 8 worldwide.

I've seen pictures of Jessica (lovely) - am I right in saying that's a touch greener/darker than Aston Racing Green ?

Hardly Green is a fantastic colour - what colour would have the interior and roof. I was really tempted to get ours in that colour but when it came to it went for Tungsten - long story that I will not bore you with.

Here is a picture taken of a friends V12V at Angouleme a couple of years ago - hope it helps with your decision.

It does look fantastic but I don't want something quite that light

I was actually determined to go ceramic grey but I'm worried that's a colour I'd get bored of plus I was thinking a very distinctive interior & hood with that plus all the 'brightwork' darkened - I just worry about that scheme as a keeper

I want to see a proper sample of Aston heritage racing green and compare it to say Jessica's Aston Green

Yep, I'm thinking wheels possibly in an anthracite (would get that done locally as I assume Aston will want silly money but you can get a very professional job done by s specialist for no more than £4-500 for all 4 wheels) would be set off well by yellow callipers

Then a tan interior but not sure what colour stitch. Perhaps with dark brown roof and dark brown carpet, e.g. bitter chocolate or black chery in which case perhaps carry that colour over to the stitch

There is a green V12V in MakoV12V's register thread, but I believe what green it is still unknown. Looks great though nevertheless, and a bit more similar to AM Racing green but a little bit darker - http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...

Sahara tan would look great on the interior imo, with contrast Parliment green stitching. The roof in Westminister green maybe? Or even just black.

Have a look at special order Bentley Cognac too, never seen on in real life but in pictures it looks great.

I must confess I didn't think green would go well on cars, but Astons do seem to pull it off. To see a "green" Aston seems to have a high degree of regency.

Morning Frost White was a £5500 item on my invioce and that is a an existing palette / special order colour. Given its a pearl paint it must surely be harder to apply (although not that much as to justify the price) so I think you are right and that c3k will be what they charge.

Id go with Hardly Green out of the two by the way!

Here is a picture of my friends 2007 V8 Vantage. The color is "DBR9 Racing Green" according to the dealer that services it and looked it up in Aston's system.

I for one am a hater of Hardly Green. It looks like those pale bathroom tiles found at old people's homes in Italy (including my grandparents!).
It also reminds me of hospitals...

I'm biased of course, having a Ghillies Green V8V. Quite a dark shade, maybe one of the darkest, which needs to be really clean and lots of light to give its best.

What about Viridian Green from the V8VS? Quite a funky, in-your-face colour which IMHO would suit the bonkers V12V well.

Am finding all these green examples very useful but non are swaying me from my thoughts that if I go green, it's the trad Aston Racing Green for me. If I go more funky, it would be with a different colour entirely but the point of green on this car for me is a classic colour for a keeper which will become a classic in due course

Incidentally, any bets on what a colour to order hood might cost ..............
