In Chichester this morning and popped into Harwoods - had a poke around their DBS Ultimate. I've got to admit I love the diamond red stitching - it looks really nice "in the flesh". They also have a DBS carbon black in there and it really highlights the difference the quilted effect makes.
Anybody had something like this done aftermarket?

Not being funny, but would anyone by a new DBS ahead of the Vanq now do you think?
I suspect there is a difference in discount levels available on the two models...However, I suspect anyone who can dop 160 bags on a discounted DBS could probably stretch to £200k for the new Vanquish. Most folks with that kind of bread tend to be resourceful sorts.

Depends if they want a manual box... Looks of the new Vanq aren't everybody's cup of tea and BR can give the power of the new car for relatively little money. I hope they sell, it's a great car and like the Vanquish Ultimate, a likely future classic! yeti said:

+1 Without a manual gearbox, and just coming with a "classic" auto box, the Vqs is no option for me, and for many other sportscar lovers!
I would def go for a manual DBS (Ultimate) now it is still possible. Especially the manual cars will keep their value long long time!

Because you could have a DBS now and not wait, then swap it in for an agreed figure on the new Vanquish you've also put on order when it arrives in January.Or the discount level on a DBS is lovely and you think it's a really pretty car, and not massively different tno a Vanquish (and realistically you'll get a DBS much cheaper than the Vanquish which could be brilliant in terms of residuals....or could be like the Rapide and lose a ton in the first year for early customers).
Whoah. I agree completely!
So, getting a little ahead of the story. I went to Millbrook last month and enjoyed a good old jolly day out, driving all the Aston models courtesy of my local dealer. A truly epic day out, and one which I will never forget.
Now rewind just a little to a week before when I rolled up outside the dealership with my DBS, fresh faced for its third year service and pre-extended warranty inspection....
Well, the service manager (genuine nice guy) came out to greet me, and as usual was very complimentary about the car yaddah yadda.. He asked me how I was getting on with the car, to which I replied graciously - effusing about its charm and abilities. He set me up nicely to ask if I had considered a replacement now that it was 3 years old - to which I replied "well, just what would I replace it with, it's a DBS, and let's face it, it was good enough for Bond Eh? (Cue my Canadian drawl and emphasis on the Eh?".
This was obviously met with a grin and a quick almost inperceptible nod to the sales staff who quickly served me hot espresso and proceeded to show me lots of nice new DBS stock. Now, here is the rub. I pointed out that all the cars they showed me (one was carbon edition) were all very nice, but all a pedal too short with a TT gearbox. Hmm, "that's great" I said "but where are the manuals?". "Manuals Sir? Why would you have a manual when you can have a tiptronic gearbox?".
"Have you ever driven a TT?". Hmm, how to answer? " Well, no actually but I love my manual DBS so I'd probably choose another".
Fast forward a week and I'd been invited to Millbrook to try the range so I could properly 'get' the TT models. Sadly, the TT DBS that I drove was tasked with allowing the days participants around the 130MPH bowl, hence not really a good test. The real stand-out star though was the V12V manual. Mmmm mmmm. 168 MPH along the 1 mile straight - what a car, and the only manual car there!
So, after all that waffle, the day that I was at Millbrook was the day before the first press day at Gaydon for the new Vanquish. I had no idea it was coming out, but it cropped up in conversation as we were all discussing the days events. I was therefore duly invited to the pre release day (apparently any pre orders are prioritised to persons who attend these release events).
After this amazing day out I was reeling - ready to devour this new model that had so graciously been released on this luckiest of days. Doh. "TT gearbox only Sir".
Ulrich - what were you thinking!

So let me get this straight, you still haven't 'properly' tried a TT?Ulrich - what were you thinking!
Wouldn't swap it for a manual in my DBS (even if I was offered money to do so) but happy to have a manual in my AMV8. Very different cars but each transmission suits each car perfectly. The downshifts on the DBS are sublime
