We headed off last weekend in this, a 1972 2000 Veloce - short diff, fast cams, big carbs and so on, 160bhp worth of revviness 
It was faultless and on 3 wet circuits of the full track Saturday morning it was pretty much the quickest of the classics out there...
The first week was the customary tour of the Loire Valley with the Pantera owners group, have been touring with them for the last 7 years or so, nice people and nice scenery. Lots pf this kind of thing...
Arrived at the hotel on Thursday http://lesetangsdeguibert.com/siteanglais.html where I've stayed for years and had a lovely few days but it is a bit far from the track, quite a hike in the Alfa every day!

The DBR1 taking part in the 'Tribute to Carroll Shelby' parade. The driver was a hero, sent the back out (on a very wet track) at every corner, really gave it the beans
If you haven;t been, I urge you to go in 2 years time. It's a fantastic event

Actually the 'occasional' backseat type thing would have held three cases... We went to a tasting here http://cavemonplaisir.fr/la-cave/ tried an 07, 08 and even an 05 but wasn't to our taste sadly. Of course we'll need to do a Beaune trip next spring for the wedding plonk... Happy days

Looks a good event to go to, it's now just behind the Bathurst 1000 on my ever growing list of races to go to

It's the DeTomaso owners club that I tour with every year! Every year I bring something other than a DeTomaso just to wind them up 
At one time Woolie I had the Marcos, Maserati and Jaguar which were all V8s. Nothing against them, it's a good beginners engine
As classic supercars go, the Magusta/Pantera is an appealing prospect. Imagine a 600bhp Maserati Bora, Lambo Contach or Ferrari 512bb, just couldn't happen. Then imagine it for £50k!
Pretty easy with these, as are big brake kits (Wilwood), uprateable suspension, bigger wheels etc. Chassis on Pantera is strong, Magusta much less so but can be strengthened.
They start at 5.7l all iron and can be 7.0l all alloy if you have the wedge

Guys, guys you didn't need to travel 25km to the nearest Chateau, here's my abode (the green one obviously) at the Chateau MMArena. (Any resemblance to 'Where's Wally?' is purely coincidental)
Anyway couple of Astons 'in the grounds'

On second thoughts a 25km drive seems pretty good.
